Position Overview
As a key member of our Senior Management Team (SMT) reporting directly to the CEO the Senior Coordinator will provide visionary leadership to our programmes and initiatives preserving and promoting institutional growth. You will lead the full implementation of our Local Implementing Partner (LIP) Strategy and oversee stakeholder reporting. This role is Nairobi-based with occasional field visits to programme sites.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership
- Lead the review and alignment of the Strategic Plan with national priorities and the institutions Theory of Change.
- Spearhead the development of annual plans budgets and performance enhancements for local partners.
- Foster a culture of learning innovation and excellence across the institution.
2. Programme Development & Management
- Guide Programme Team Leads to deliver impactful initiatives in line with strategic goals.
- Ensure timely monitoring evaluation and reporting to inform programme growth.
- Cultivate partnerships at national and international levels for resource mobilization and collaboration.
- Drive capacity building for staff and partners to guarantee quality programme outputs.
3. Leadership & People Management
- Provide coaching mentorship and performance management for programme staff.
- Collaborate closely with People & Culture Centre for staff development and succession planning.
- Support organizational storytelling by documenting impactful human-interest stories through collaboration with communications.
4. Resource Mobilization & Financial Stewardship
- Lead fundraising efforts in partnership with Programme Leads and CEO.
- Manage programme budgets effectively ensuring alignment with Board-approved plans.
- Stay abreast of socio-economic-political trends to maintain responsive programming.
5. Operational Excellence
- Participate fully in SMT meetings providing essential programme updates.
- Ensure compliance with donor guidelines and institutional policies.
- Manage staffing for optimal resource utilization and results delivery.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Masters Degree in Social Sciences Humanities Business Management or related field (PhD preferred).
- Minimum 10 years senior management experience in gender and development initiatives.
- Proven track record in coordinating women-centric projects and initiatives.
Technical & Leadership Skills
- Proven expertise in programme design strategic planning budgeting and evaluation.
- Experience managing emergency response and peace initiatives.
- Strong financial management donor compliance and reporting capabilities. Leadership skills encompassing coaching negotiation cross-cultural communication and staff development.
- Demonstrated success in resource mobilization managing partnerships and securing up to $1M annually.
- Familiarity with feminist rights-based approaches and livelihood security frameworks a plus.
