AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineer Aviation to be based in Chicago IL. This role is ideal for a recent graduate interested in launching a career in airport and aviation infrastructure design supporting airside and landside projects at commercial and general aviation airports.
The successful candidate will work under the guidance of senior aviation engineers and project managers contributing to the planning design and delivery of aviation-related civil engineering projects. Assignments may include runway taxiway apron terminal support infrastructure and associated utility and drainage systems.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Assist with civil engineering design tasks for aviation infrastructure including runways taxiways aprons grading drainage and utility systems
- Support preparation of engineering calculations drawings and technical documentation in accordance with FAA state and local standards
- Assist in the development of plans specifications and cost estimates for aviation projects
- Perform data collection analysis and interpretation using established engineering methods
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including structural electrical geotechnical and environmental disciplines
- Support construction phase services including review of submittals RFIs and participation in site visits as required
- Apply AECOM quality procedures and follow applicable aviation design standards and safety requirements
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- No prior professional experience required
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe
- Exposure to AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar civil design software
- Basic familiarity with FAA advisory circulars airport design standards or airfield pavement concepts
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Interest in aviation airport operations or infrastructure development
