Position Title: HR Generalist Legislative Leaves Department: Professional Employment Reports To: Assistant Vice President Professional Employment FLSA Status: Exempt Position Summary The HR Generalist Legislative Leaves is responsible for administering and coordinating all aspects of employee leave programs in compliance with federal state and local laws including but not limited to FMLA CFRA PDL SDI ADA and other protected leaves. This role serves as a key resource to employees and management ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and internal policies while maintaining a positive employee addition the HR Generalist supports other core HR functions including benefits administration onboarding and policy interpretation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Legislative Leave Administration - Administer and coordinate employee leaves of absence including FMLA CFRA PDL SDI military and other statutory or company-sponsored leaves.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and managers regarding leave eligibility documentation requirements timelines and return-to-work processes.
- Ensure compliance with all federal state and local leave laws and maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislative changes.
- Prepare and distribute required leave notifications forms and correspondence in accordance with legal and company requirements.
- Track and monitor employee leave usage ensuring accurate documentation and timely updates in payroll systems.
- Coordinate disability and paid family leave benefits integration to ensure accurate pay continuation.
- Partner with managers to plan for employee absences and facilitate smooth return-to-work transitions including reasonable accommodation discussions where applicable.
General Human Resources Support - Assist with benefits administration open enrollment and employee eligibility tracking.
- Support new hire onboarding and orientation ensuring a positive employee experience.
- Provide guidance to employees and supervisors on HR policies procedures and compliance-related matters.
- Maintain accurate employee records and ensure data integrity in the payroll system.
- Participate in HR projects audits and process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications Education and Experience - Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration or related field required.
- Minimum of 3years of HR experience with at least 2 years focused on leave administration.
- Experience working with multiple leave types (FMLA CFRA PDL ADA SDI Workers Compensation).
- Healthcare experience a plus.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities - Strong understanding of federal and state employment and leave laws.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- High attention to detail accuracy and confidentiality.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate complex information clearly.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and document management platforms.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining strong team collaboration.
Physical Requirements - Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds.
Work Environment - Standard office environment with occasional remote or hybrid work flexibility based on departmental needs.
