About the Role:
As a Senior Platform Developer with a strong focus on Kafka you will join a highly experienced team responsible for operating maintaining and evolving a critical event-streaming platform within a banking/fintech environment. The role centers on managing an existing on-prem Kafka cluster while leading its migration to Confluent Cloud. This long-term assignment sits within IT Infrastructure & Operations where high availability stability scalability and performance are business-critical.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate maintain and further develop the existing on-prem Kafka platform
Plan execute and support the migration from on-prem Kafka to Confluent Cloud
Ensure high availability robustness scalability and performance of the Kafka ecosystem
Monitor troubleshoot and optimize Kafka clusters and data pipelines
Collaborate closely with development infrastructure and operations teams
Contribute both hands-on and strategically to platform improvements and future architecture
Requirements:
Many years of hands-on experience with Apache Kafka including both operations and development
Proven experience with cloud migration preferably from on-prem environments to Confluent Cloud
Strong understanding of distributed systems event-driven architectures and data streaming pipelines
Solid background in Java development ideally within fintech or other regulated environments
Experience working in complex high-availability production environments
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines DevOps practices and containerized platforms such as Kubernetes is meriting
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a senior cross-functional team
Full professional proficiency in Swedish
Availability to work on-site in Stockholm 23 days per week
