The Woodfibre LNG Project is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish British Columbia. It involves the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site which would have a storage capacity of 250000 m3 and would produce approximately 2.1 million tons per year of LNG.
Woodfibre Management Ltd. is a privately held Canadian company based in Vancouver and a subsidiary of Pacific Energy Corporation Limited.
Position
The Operations Technician S&L is an integral part of Woodfibre LNGs dynamic Operations team. The successful candidate reports directly to the Shift Supervisor. This role will be based on the Project Site in Squamish BC. and you will play an essential part in supporting the companys operations team through the Operations Readiness Assurance Phase into Start-Up on into the Operational Phase of the project. During Operational Phase as Operations Technician Process on shift you will also be a key contributor that the environmental practices and social responsibilities to the community which are held to the uppermost standards as set out by Woodfibre LNG.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will:
- Responsibility/ownership for safe production and execution of activities/tasks in their area during their duty.
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of current operational status of the plant and equipment in the process section by reference to daily instructions logbooks and shift change over communications.
- Maintains a thorough understanding of current safety procedures and operating procedures / work instructions as well as Standing Orders to ensure adherence by all personnel in the process area.
- Support the Operations Management in executing the ORA Plan to ensure readiness for Start-Up into the Operational Phase of the project and throughout the life cycle of the facility.
- Ensure availability and Reliability of plant and equipment during their shift
- Support Implementation of the agreed Maintenance Strategy
- Support PTW including functionality/improvements isolations standards competencies issuing precautions compliance auditing PTW manuals authorization.
- Ensure the operational area is free of hazards and risks are mitigated to ALARP expectations
- Ensure all equipment and plant to be handed over for maintenance is correctly isolated and in safe state for personnel to undertake tasks
- Support the development and implementation of check lists & routines for the plant and equipment
- Timely delivery of input data and correctness for plant daily report to Utilities Lead
- Interface with technical services department for integrity issues and compliance checks
- Interface with HSSE department for compliance and improvements
- Interface with other departments for support requirements and documentation
HSSE
- 100% compliance with company HSE policies and guidelines.
- Champion HSE as a member of the LNG Operations Team.
- Lead HSE Shift Meeting/ safety walks /audits if required.
- Timely intervention to mitigate risks and ensure safety of personnel and plant.
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to influence overall safety behavior in the plant.
- Safeguarding systems check lists are implemented/completed by Shift Operations to agreed frequencies and standards.
- Ensure that Shift Operations Emergency Response capabilities are 100% met during shift period.
- Basic Fire Fighting and Emergency Response experience preferred.
RequirementsRequired Experience:
- High School Diploma
- Minimum 2-3 years in Industrial and/or Storage and Loading Facilities.
- 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate
- Demonstrated previous experience in operations of industrial storage and loading.
- Previous experience working with other departments to support production targets
- Knowledge of actions required On Site First Intervention Team during Emergency Responses.
- Fully versed in Managing Safe Work with Permit to Work System.
Additional Requirements:
- Communication/interpersonal skills to be able to interact with front line workers through management.
- Ability to work well under pressure handling tasks targets and changing priorities within tight time frames.
- Expertise with a variety of computer programs (e.g. MS Office).
- A valid drivers license (with abstract) and passport.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- The position is based in Squamish BC (Project Site) with an initial stay period at the Vancouver Office
