About the Role

We are seeking an entry-level Engineer 1 to support the design planning and construction of electrical power distribution systems. This role offers hands-on field experience and customer interaction making it an ideal opportunity for early-career engineers looking to grow within the utility and power sector.

You will manage a defined service territory in Tuscaloosa AL working directly with residential commercial and industrial customers to engineer safe reliable and cost-effective electric service solutions. This role also participates in after-hours storm restoration efforts and supports larger system improvement and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply engineering principles design criteria and software tools to support power system design and construction.
• Meet with customers to determine electric service needs and create engineering designs accordingly.
• Engineer electric distribution service projects including residential commercial industrial and subdivisions.
• Assist with system reliability projects routine maintenance and planned infrastructure improvements.
• Support estimate preparation design option development and construction specification packages.
• Participate in storm restoration events after-hours and out-of-area support may be required.
• Manage multiple active projects prioritize workload and take ownership of assigned territory responsibilities.

Required Education & Experience

• Bachelors degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
• 0 5 years of engineering-related experience.
• Prior experience with electrical distribution engineering is preferred but not required.
• EIT certification is a plus.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

Preferred skills and tools (training available for entry-level candidates):

• Computer applications such as CYME JETS CSS DistGIS SOCKET ADMS/OMS
• Understanding of distribution design standards and practices
• Ability to interpret engineering plans apply problem-solving skills and make sound decisions during emergencies
• Ability to manage multiple projects and set priorities
• Strong customer-facing communication skills
• Knowledge of NESC NEC OSHA and company safety standards
• Ability to travel out of area/state for restoration or emergency assignments
