Job Title: Medical Assistant I (Contract)
Location: Brooklyn NY 11201
Duration: 9 Weeks
Shift: MondayFriday 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
Hours: 40 hours/week
Pay Rate: Up to $21/hour
Job Summary:
Navitas Healthcare LLC is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant I for a short-term contract assignment in a fast-paced medical group setting. The Medical Assistant will support both clinical and administrative operations ensuring high-quality patient care while maintaining compliance with safety and documentation standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform clinical duties including EKGs lab testing PFTs audiometry and vital signs collection
Admit patients to exam rooms and obtain medical medication and allergy histories
Maintain accurate clinical and administrative documentation including lab logs and daily equipment checks
Follow CLIA OSHA and universal precaution guidelines
Prepare clean stock and maintain exam rooms and medical areas
Register patients update demographics and insurance information and manage daily ledgers
Schedule appointments and process patient referrals and HMO authorizations
Answer phones professionally take messages and ensure timely follow-up
Retrieve file and maintain medical records and lab results
Balance ledger sheets and manage cash box accountability
Provide discharge instructions as directed by physicians and notify patients of test results
Communicate patient concerns or emergencies promptly to physicians
Maintain professionalism and deliver courteous patient-centered service at all times
Required Skills & Experience:
Minimum 2 years of recent Medical Assistant experience
Certification as a Medical Assistant (at least one MA certification required CCMA preferred)
Excellent phone etiquette communication and interpersonal skills
Strong computer and data entry skills
Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced clinical environment
Education & Certifications:
High School Diploma or GED (required)
BLS Certification (required)
Medical Assistant Certification (required at least one of the following):
CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant)
CMAC
NCMA (National Certified Medical Assistant)
RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) AMT
CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) AAMA
