General

The candidate must be able to perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks in their trade as well as installation repair replacement maintenance inspection and operation of mechanical electrical hvac plumbing general maintenance environment controls and life safety systems. Will receive & action work orders within the allotted time frame.

The facility mechanic/plumbing positionmanagesdiversified duties to install troubleshoot repair and maintain facility equipment and building according to safety predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the sites business goals and objectives.

At this position level:
The facility mechanic/plumber position will work on plumbing type work as well as maintain the building and perform preventative and corrective maintenance on building issues and support mechanicalelectrical equipment and systems as needed.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs work in accordance to established processes and response & rectification guidelines
  • Complies with all internal and external requirements including but not limited to environmental health and safety fire protection
  • Performs regular inspection preventative and corrective measure to ensure facility uptime objectives are met uninterrupted client operation and asset integrity of assigned facility are maintained.
  • Provides observations about facility facility mechanical and electrical equipment and systems conditions and deficiencies and provides suggestions for enhancement and repair.
  • Monitors assigned facility by conducting facility walkthroughs mechanical and electrical equipment and system monitoring and inspection
  • Responds to routine and on-demand service requests and performs preventative and corrective measures on facility building fabric and mechanical and electrical equipment and systems
  • Records resolution data within service facility management database.
  • Ensures work completed meets quality contract response and all other requirements
  • Receives tracks monitors and reports status of facility and repair work within service Facility Management Database.
  • Initiates documents to obtain formal approval of work required.
  • Works with subcontractors and perform preventative repairs and calibration on mechanical/electrical equipment.
  • Recommends spare parts and supply purchases for facility equipment
  • Accurately maintains/completes all equipment logbooks and Facility records.
  • Assists in the implementation of preventative Facility (PM) program.
  • Ensures that deficiencies are identified recorded and escalated and that related documentations are maintained.
  • Participates in and assists with facility-related projects.
  • Ensures the manner in which work is performed is in compliance with corporate and legislated policies procedures practices and guidelines related to environmental health and safety fire protection and any other applicable requirements.
  • Maintains all assigned tools and arranges for repair and replacement where required.
  • Assists in enhancing customer satisfaction and maintaining positive relations through manner in which work is performed and services delivered.
  • Must follow BBIS Health & Safety Policies
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work requirements:

  • Must be able and willing to work flexible shifts be available for on-call/standby and emergency call-outs as they arise.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment
  • Must use hand tools lift/carry 50 lbs. and to work on ladders/step stools.
  • Requires working extended periods on his/her feet in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must maintain an excellent attendance record
  • Ethical/responsible
  • Willing to perform other duties as requested/required by trade or knowledge base.
  • Must be result driven and work with minimal supervision

MINIMUM EDUCATION:High school completion plus a red seal certificate in the plumbing trade.

JOB RELATED EXPERIENCE:Minimum 3 years of plumbing experience. Working in facility maintenance and /or healthcare experience would be a strong asset.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Requires a good understanding of plumbing by trade general repairs of building fabric. Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems in a large facilities.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blue prints and schematics specific to his/her trade where applicable
  • Must have excellent communication skills (verbally written).
  • Familiar with building automation systems (BAS) Metasys knowledge is an asset
  • Must have the ability to use hand tools lift/carry 50 lbs. and to work on ladders/step stools.
  • Scheduled evening and weekend work & 12 hours shift work is required.
  • Working knowledge of computers and handheld devices
  • Positive professional disposition and ability to cooperate with co-workers and supervisors and to contribute productively to a project team.
  • Strong client-service orientation along with a high sense of urgency
  • Ability to succeed in a team oriented environment under very dynamic (changing) conditions.
