Reporting to the Technical Maintenance Coordinator as part of the Facility Services team is a working supervisor at Hyde Creek Recreation center within the area of assignment including custodian service facility and pool maintenance physical plant within a recreation facility outdoor pools and at subsidiary sites. Duties are performed independently within established guidelines practices and policies. Independence of judgement is exercised within the scope of the work. Supervisory duties and initiative are exercised within the assigned area. Work performance is monitored and reviewed in terms of the effectiveness of services rendered.
Some of the key responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- In consultation with the Facility Maintenance Coordinator plans assigns and supervise thework of subordinates
- Assists with major equipment or building repairs pool start up and shutdowns as required.
- Prepares a variety of materials memos and statistics for the approval of the Supervisor.
- Maintains equipment and supply inventory records
- Trains and provides orientation for staff and volunteers and participates in the recruitment ofstaff and volunteers
- Arranges for contract services as required and provides input into contract renewals
- Prepares various reports and maintains records related to the work
- Implement initiatives based on budget parameters
The successful candidate for this position will have:
- Completion of Grade 12
- Pool Operator Course Level 1 & 2
- Refrigeration Operator Certificate (Arena)
- Two years full time equivalent experience in general building maintenance physical plant operations and custodial work to include the operation of heating ventilation public pool filters pumps and chemistry air conditioning and ice making refrigeration system
- Minimum six months supervisory experience or successful completion of a supervisory skills post-secondary course minimum 36 hours
