Description
This position will be housed at the Columbus Health Department and is Not a Remote position. You will support the Department by utilizing your expertise to fulfill the following responsibilities:
- Assist in the clinic by taking and recording patients vital signs height and weight collection of blood and/or other laboratory specimens
- Maintain daily laboratory log place and read TST skin tests and prepare specimens for shipping to the laboratory.
- Pull patient lab results daily and prepares them for the nurse to review.
- Perform finger sticks for Rapid HIV and Syphilis testing.
- Prepare the exam room for patients.
- Perform front office duties to include but not limited to patient intake verifying insurance collecting/posting payments answering phone calls and scheduling appointments.
- May serve as a chaperone with the nurses during exams.

Job Responsibilities
Under general supervision performs administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of the physician on duty. Handles front office duties which include scheduling appointments maintaining medical records billing and coding for insurance purposes. Assists in the clinic by taking and recording vital signs and medical histories preparing patients for examination and drawing blood.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university with one (1) year experience in a related field; or High School diploma/GED and two (2) years of experience in medical assisting; or Two (2) years of experience required at the lower level Medical Assistant 1 (HCT100) or position equivalent.

DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree diploma licensure etc.
