Position Summary

The Awake Overnight Residential Counselor ensures the safety well-being and positive environment for youth and young adults during overnight shifts in a residential program. This role requires remaining awake and alert throughout the shift while providing support and guidance to residents.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor youth overnight ensuring safety and adherence to program guidelines.
• Provide advocacy referrals crisis intervention and supportive counseling as needed.
• Orient new residents to program rules and expectations.
• Assist residents in developing life skills including cooking socialization and independent living preparation.
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with staff.
• Participate in staff meetings and contribute to a culturally sensitive environment.
• Serve as a liaison between the program and community resources.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in human services or related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2 years of experience working with adolescents or young adults.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Experience with homelessness substance abuse or related issues preferred.
• Effective communication and crisis management skills.
