Position Description:
Sustainability Interns will apply their knowledge and experience at a fast-paced innovative company while working with the latest technology and tools. Interns will contribute to meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor. If you are passionate about processes and sustainability our internship is the perfect fit for you. We will offer one internship each year with a focus on every aspect of our sustainability program.
Position Qualifications:
- Candidates are preferred to be pursuing a 4-year degree in Sustainability and Environmental Management Civil Structural Architecture or Construction Management at an accredited university.
- Computer software - Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication skills with an emphasis on customer service.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to seek out technical solutions and be self-directed.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced virtual environment while communicating with internal stakeholders regarding the status of key deliverables.
- Task-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Essential Duties:
Get hands-on experience in different sustainability focus areas:
- Visiting job sites to assist with submittal reviews and Green Badger tracking (our LEED tracking software).
- Scope 1 2 and 3 carbon data gathering.
- Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) and submittal reviews.
- Developing and reviewing LEED requirements for projects.
- Embodied carbon tracking.
- Jobsite wellness program management.
- Implementing jobsite sustainability process.
Physical Work Classification & Demands:
- Light Work. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- The individual in this position will periodically walk kneel sit crouch reach stoop read/see speak push pull lift stand and finger/type. The frequency of each action varies by workflow and office activity.
- Walking - The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets office machinery boxes cabinets etc.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery such as a calculator copy machine phone computer and computer printer.
- The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and external stakeholders regarding a variety of topics related to office administration.
- Constantly computes analyzes and conceptualizes mathematical calculations and formulas.
- Constantly reads written communications and views email submissions.
- The person in this position regularly sits in a stationary position in front of a computer screen.
- Visual acuity and ability to operate a vehicle as certified and appropriate.
- Rarely exposed to high and low temperatures
- Rarely exposed to noisy environments and outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
Benefits:
Hensel Phelps believes in the importance of taking time to recharge. As a result employees are eligible for paid time off beginning upon hire.
Compensation Range: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour depending on project location plus housing or housing allowance.
