Job Summary

Introduction

The Coastal Programs Section of theDivision of Climate Coastal and Energyserves as the Departments research education and policy lead for coastal and ocean issues. It helps manage Delawares federal coastal zone and balance the use and protection of its resources through the integrated efforts of theDelaware Coastal Management ProgramandDelaware National Estuarine Research Reserve.

Summary Statement

The Ocean Planning Outreach Coordinator will lead public engagement and communications efforts to support Delawares ocean planning initiatives. This position is responsible for collaborating and connecting with partners stakeholders and the public organizing outreach events and preparing educational and communication materials to share the value of Delawares marine resources. The Coordinator may assist in the development of a communications plan to inform future community engagement strategies. Additional duties may include assisting with the development management and analysis of a public survey focused on ocean planning. Additional work on weekends evenings and holidays may be scheduled.

May assist with graphic design of printed brochures and program flyers.

Assist in the development and posting of materials to the Reserve social media sites.

May supervise and manage volunteers.

Must be able to demonstrate responsibility dependability and good communication skills.

Maintain a positive attitude and have fun.

Applicants must have education training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas: Community Engagement Specialist

1. Must be at least 18 years of age.

2. One years experience in communications public relations marketing customer service or related fields.

3. One years experience in supervising groups staff or volunteers.

4. Six months experience in narrative report writing.

5. Knowledge of public speaking or interpretation.

6. Possession of a valid drivers license (not suspended revoked or cancelled or disqualified from driving).

Additional Posting Information

This posting may be closed on or before the posted closing date upon filling the vacant position(s).

This is a Casual/Seasonal position which is a non-pension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits.

All new hires are required to report to the Statewide New Employee Orientation (SNEO) on their first day of employment. Sessions are held at designated locations in Kent or New Castle County.
