Requisition Summary

This position will assist the Safety Manager in the development and implementation of Peterbilts and PacLeases safety and health programs to include accident prevention safety training hazardous materials management ergonomics Department of Transportation (DOT compliance requirements and the Plant Emergency Team. The chosen incumbent will assist with the divisions safety and occupational health administrative controls to align with corporates expectations and ensure the divisions safety compliance with all applicable federal state and local agencies. The position will also assist and manage the safety department resources throughout the division. The travel requirement for this position is approximately 15% annually mostly local.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

Assist the Safety Manager with the following responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with leadership to develop a culture which promotes behavioral based safety in both operations and office environments.
2. Manage a comprehensive environmental health and safety program including prevention investigation and recording of incidents and related costs. Track and measureresults and recommend appropriate actions.
3. Manage the performance and development of Peterbilts safety team.
4. Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with applicable federal state and local laws which also include records retention and reporting requirements.
5. Develop effective loss control goals and procedures for environmental health and safety
6. Partner with operations to identify and mitigate risks.
7. Manage the safety training program for both operations and office staff.
8. Coordinate with OSHA inspectors fire department inspections PACCAR insurance carriers and local facilities departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in safety or related field required.
• Masters degree in applicable field preferred.
• Professional certification in safety industrial hygiene or hazardous materials preferred.
• Five years of closely related industrial safety experience.
• 14001/18001 experience and or lead auditor training required.
• Working knowledge of OSHA and NFPA laws as well as local regulatory agencies.
• Excellent written verbal interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively at various levels within the organization.
• Mechanical aptitude with an understanding of heavy manufacturing environment and equipment.
• Organizational skills and ability to work independently.
• Ability to influence a safety behavioral based culture.

Education

Bachelors degree in safety or related field required.
