POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Project Manager (PM) serves as the primary point of contact for the operational support and enhancement of the New York City Department of Educations (DOE) Enterprise Budgeting and Vendor Applications systems. This role oversees all phases of complex multi-workstream IT projects spanning budgeting data systems vendor portals and enterprise application modernization.
The PM is responsible for end-to-end project delivery including planning scheduling risk management quality assurance team coordination and stakeholder communication across DOE divisions. The individual ensures all deliverables meet DOE standards comply with security protocols and are executed on time within a multi-year program environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage overall project schedule deliverables risks and status reporting.
Serve as the single point of contact between DOE and vendor project teams.
Coordinate daily activities across development testing and deployment phases.
Document meeting notes decisions and escalate issues when needed.
Ensure deliverables meet DOE requirements and follow approved processes.
Maintain project documentation repositories and support knowledge transfer.
Oversee assigned project resources and ensure continuity of staffing.
Follow DOE security compliance and administrative protocols.
REQUIREMENTS:
Experience
10 years of experience leading large-scale IT implementation projects preferably in government education or public-sector environments.
Demonstrated success managing multi-year application modernization projects with complex integrations.
Experience working with Agile methodologies iterative release planning and cross-functional teams.
Technical & Analytical Skills
Proficiency with project management tools and documentation software including MS Project MS Visio MS PowerPoint
Strong understanding of SDLC processes systems integration reporting frameworks and enterprise application environments.
Certifications
Interpersonal & Leadership Skills
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to navigate diverse stakeholder groups including executive leadership business units technical SMEs and external vendors.
Strong organizational skills with a track record of managing competing priorities.
