People Operations & HR Manager (Healthcare)
Location: Lakewood NJ (Onsite across 2 local sites)
Salary: $100K$140K
Position Overview
A fast-growing healthcare organization (urgent care primary care) is hiring a hands-on People Operations & HR Manager to bring structure accountability and consistency to a startup-style environment thats scaled quickly.
This is not a desk HR role. Youll be a visible trusted people manager. Youll be supporting leaders strengthening staff performance implementing policies (already defined) and helping the team operate with professionalism.
The Ideal Candidate
Proven people leader whos coached corrected and developed teams in fast-paced environments
Comfortable navigating employee dynamics with tact firmness and emotional intelligence
Strong at earning respect through consistency fairness and follow-through (not intimidation)
Detail-oriented with solid instincts around PTO timekeeping and payroll coordination
Calm under pressurecan handle pushback drama and thats not how we do things here
Able to implement structure without ruffling featherspolitical professional and practical
Healthcare clinic urgent care or medical office experience is a plus (not required)
Key Responsibilities
Team leadership & accountability: Be a consistent presenceset expectations reinforce standards and address behavior/performance issues early
Employee relations: Field concerns de-escalate conflicts document appropriately and partner with leadership when issues escalate
Policy implementation: Roll out and enforce existing policies (PTO attendance professionalism workflows); you wont be asked to invent HR from scratch
Onboarding & training: Strengthen orientation ensure staff understand expectations and improve retention through clarity follow-up
Payroll/timekeeping coordination: Ensure timecards are accurate handle adjustments/bonuses and keep payroll inputs clean and timely
Operational support (people-side): Help leaders ensure staffing practices and floor expectations are being followed (without being the day-to-day scheduler)
Qualifications & Must-Haves (Non-Negotiables)
Meaningful people-management experience (not just HR admin)
Track record of implementing standards in environments that previously lacked structure
Strong communication skills (clear kind direct) high discretion
Willingness to be onsite and visible across both locations
Availability requirement (important):
Standard daytime hours with a flexible schedule possible
For at least the first 6 months: must be able to be onsite 2 evenings/week and every other Sunday Saturday night (brief presence is often sufficientthis is about creating accountability and stability)
