Provide technical guidance to resolve structural issues and interpret design documents.
Liaise with contractors stakeholders and other disciplines to address RFIs NCRs and FCRs.
Identify potential structural risks and recommend corrective measures.
Provide construction directions driven by structural design.
Review and comment on the work performed by the others to ensure accuracy completeness and quality of technical information and design documentation.
Perform engineering design and reviews as may be mandated for the design changes in question.
Prepare engineering design calculations for repair and reinforcing of structural systems involving steel reinforced concrete and masonry and prepare design documents.
Provide technical instructions to Junior engineers.
Attend meetings with contractors stakeholders and other disciplines to address construction issues and develop effective engineering solutions.
Conduct regular site walkdowns and verify structural integrity during construction stages.
This role requires consistent on-site presence and may involve supporting a shift work schedule based on operational needs.
Civil Engineering degree from an accredited University. Masters degree and above is an asset.
Must be Licensed in a professional engineering organization recognized in Canada. Preferably registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
Minimum 12 years of structural analysis and design experience in steel and concrete structures.
Deep and thorough understanding of structural engineering gained through a combination of design-office and site experience.
Thorough knowledge of Canadian and International Codes and standards used in Civil/Structural engineering.
Thorough knowledge of use of Analysis software commonly used in Civil/Structural engineering such as StaadPro SAP2000 ETABS SAFE etc.
Must have experience with static dynamic and seismic analysis of structures and foundations.
Demonstrated good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
