M&J Engineering is a leader in construction management and inspection ITS mechanical electrical wastewater water supply tunnel airport port marine/coastal environmental engineering and design-build services for both new infrastructure projects and renovations.
M&J is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Site Safety Officer (SSO) to oversee and enforce safety standards on active job sites. The Site Safety Officer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations company safety policies and applicable local laws to maintain a safe working environment for all employees subcontractors and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Enforce all site safety rules OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Conduct daily site safety inspections and hazard assessments.
- Identify unsafe conditions or behaviors and take corrective action immediately.
- Lead site safety orientations and toolbox talks.
- Investigate accidents incidents and near misses; prepare reports and recommendations.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and safety equipment.
- Maintain safety logs inspection records and incident reports.
- Coordinate with project managers superintendents and subcontractors on safety matters.
- Stop work when unsafe conditions exist and ensure corrective actions are completed.
- Ensure compliance with local state and federal safety requirements.
- Attend required meetings and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in occupational safety Construction Management Engineering or a related field required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction site safety or related field
- OSHA 30 required (OSHA 62 preferred if applicable)
- Knowledge of OSHA standards fall protection scaffolding and hazard mitigation
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to enforce safety policies firmly and professionally
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation skills
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Salary: $57000 - $90000 based on experience qualifications and project scope.
