About the Role:

AtkinsRéalis is seeking aSenior Solid Waste Design Engineerto join our growing Environment Practice. You will oversee environmental projects in the solid waste management sector contributing to the design planning and operation of various waste management facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage projects involving the engineering design and operation of solid waste facilities such as landfills organics processing material recovery facilities transfer stations and public drop-off centers.
• Deliver detailed design cost estimates tender and specification support and construction supervision/contract administration.
• Lead or support waste planning initiatives including:
  • Design and operations plans
  • Monitoring plans for groundwater surface water and landfill gases
  • Environmental compliance approvals and amendments
• Conduct landfill liability calculations capacity studies waste density and consumption rate estimations.
• Coordinate supplemental studies (noise odour traffic impact assessments).
• Manage project budgets subcontractors and schedules.
• Ensure client satisfaction and contribute to business development.
• Analyze data using standardized and advanced methods.
• Execute technical tasks with precision and adherence to testing protocols.
• Prepare and review technical reports proposals and project documentation.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Experience:Minimum 15 years in solid waste management with expertise in at least one of the following:
  • Landfill engineering design/construction management
  • Environmental compliance and operations support
  • Waste management planning
• Knowledge:Strong understanding of environmental laws regulations and guidelines related to waste management.
• Skills:
  • Ability to implement practical cost-effective solutions
  • Strong project management contractor supervision and contract administration skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Language:Fluency in English; bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
