Senior Power System Study Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Power System Study Engineer to perform advanced grounding lightning protection bus and induction studies for utility industrial and renewable energy projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience using tools such as CDEGS and WinIGS and a strong foundation in electromagnetic transient analysis. This role involves interpreting system configurations creating accurate models and delivering high-quality technical reports to support project engineering and safety compliance.

Your role

• Conduct grounding system design and analysis including grid resistance touch/step voltage and fault current distribution.
• Perform lightning protection studies surge analysis and shielding assessments.
• Execute induction studies for overhead lines and pipelines to evaluate AC interference and mitigation strategies.
• Model and analyze bus configurations for short-circuit thermal and electromagnetic performance.
• Utilize software tools such as CDEGS WinIGS and optionally PSCAD or EMTP to simulate and analyze power system phenomena.
• Generate detailed technical reports calculations and drawings.
• Coordinate with project managers utilities and clients to ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g. IEEE 80 IEEE 665 NESC NEC).
• Support multidisciplinary teams in substation transmission and industrial facility design.

About you

• Masters degree in Power Systems or Electromagnetics.
• Proficiency in CDEGS (certification is an asset).
• 3 years of experience in power system studies with a focus on grounding lightning and induction.
• Experience with WinIGS required; familiarity with PSCAD ETAP or PSS/E is a plus.
• Familiarity with HVDC FACTS or renewable integration studies is a plus.

Expected compensationfor this role is between $100200 - $137700 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills experience and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
