The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operational activities to ensure efficient accurate and timely fulfillment of customer requirements. This role drives performance against contractual service-level agreements (SLAs) and operational metrics while fostering a culture of safety quality and continuous improvement. The Operations Manager leads and develops a team of exempt and hourly employees providing training coaching and performance feedback. Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Define operational requirements and implement strategies that meet or exceed customer expectations and contractual obligations
- Drive operational excellence through LEAN and Six Sigma methodologies quality management and cost-control techniques to achieve company goals profitability and long-term customer relationships
- Assign duties monitor work completion for accuracy and ensure adherence to SOPs and standardized processes
- Continuously assess current practices identify gaps and lead process improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma tools
- Manage team performance through coaching training and development; provide feedback and administer corrective actions as needed
- Maintain a safe work environment and foster a positive team culture; resolve employee relations issues in compliance with company policies and applicable laws
- Ensure daily distribution and light manufacturing activities are executed effectively; develop corrective action plans when performance falls below target
- Plan and organize personnel schedules across all shifts and accounts; optimize workload labor hours and productivity to meet production schedules
- Ensure daily quotas are met; when performance is behind implement recovery plans and communicate procedural changes as needed
- Provide timely updates to leadership and teams on quality safety delivery cost and morale metrics
- Monitor KPIs and operational metrics to assess productivity and cost management; implement corrective actions as needed
- Lead start-up activities and collaborate with cross-functional teams to successfully launch new services or processes
- Maintain accurate documentation of departmental processes; ensure associates are trained and current on policies and procedures
- Supervise and develop staff in alignment withcompany policies and legal requirements; model positive reinforcement and uphold RK Logistics standards of world-class service
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with customers; serve as the focal point for customer visits and operational inquiries; engage in daily communication to address needs and resolve issues promptly.
- Depending on the services offered at the assigned location (or added in the future) responsibilities may also include:
- Overseeing order processing fulfillment (including picking and packing) warehouse operations inventory and order
tracking quality control and shipping preparation.
- Collaborating with customer service representatives warehouse staff carriers manufacturers suppliers logistics directors
and other team members to ensure SLAs and customer expectations are met.
- Defining and maintaining detailed product quality checklists; conducting audits/personal inspections to ensure items meet
customer specifications and Standard Work (SW) process steps.
Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of process improvement methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Excellent verbal written and interpersonal communication skills.
- High sense of urgency integrity and adaptability to changing operational goals.
- Ability to read write and comprehend checklists forms and documentation.
- Demonstrates ability to interact well with others and follow instructions.
- Physical ability to stand walk climb ladders kneel and lift up to 50 lbs. using safe lifting techniques.
