Job Summary
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach beginning Spanish through advanced level coursework for grades K-8 through the study of language and culture. Commuting between the two schools would be expected.
Qualification for 9th grade Spanish preferred.
Foster the advancement and enhancement of fluency in reading writing speaking and listening in Spanish
Incorporating the basic linguistic and cultural aspects of the Spanish language.
Help students develop knowledge understanding and appreciation for other cultures languages and countries
Designs age and skill-appropriate lessons independently and collaboratively with grade-level teams
Serve as mentor (homeroom) teacher for a small group of middle school students
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Experience with differentiated instruction to serve all students in a classroom
Effective skills in creating positive relationships with students and their families
Strong interpersonal collaborative and organizational skills
Willingness and ability to act as an outstanding personal witness to the Catholic faith
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree
Native or near-native fluency in Spanish
Valid SD Teaching certificate or ability to obtain
Knowledge of the culture history and practices of Spanish-speaking communities
