Reporting to the VP of Engineering & Quality the Central Quality leader will be in charge with his team to deploy the quality culture in the Hydro Power business. He will own the Quality Management System the Quality KPIs and the internal and external audits and will be responsible of driving continuous improvements in partnership with the regional and functional quality leaders.
With the main focus on enhancing quality to address key Cost of poor Quality issues such as project margin leakages product non-conformity costs and warranty costs.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Manage the Hydro Power global Central Quality team. Lead coach and guide the team to drive quality processes and culture continuous improvement. Partner closely with regional and functional leadership teams and their quality leaders to address key CoPQ issues drive learnings and preventive action plans to avoid re-occurrence.

  • Own the Quality Management System (QMS). Identify and drive improvement/standard work into our Critical Processes across value streams and outcomes

  • Own monthly Hydro Power quality KPIs (GE Vernova Level 0 and Hydro Power Level 1) and drive Monthly Operational Reviews (MOR) for Quality partnering with regional functional quality and Lean leaders

  • Develop and own external and internal quality audit plans and related nonconformities closure

  • Own the Hydro Power Quality Management Review process. Strategize on how to make Hydro Power more effective to measure the true health of our quality system and identify improvement opportunities across the organization

  • Lead Non-Conformances Reporting Processes RCAs PSRs and Lessons learned

  • Foster a problem-solving culture in the organization to use quality data to drive to improvement opportunities to drive down defects and overall Cost of Quality leading with a Lean mindset

  • Work across Hydro Power to champion quality culture and principles to build quality into our products and processes; leverage the principles of quality stop work defects prevention continuous learnings from mistakes and drive improvement back into the system to ensure the defects do not repeat

  • Represent Hydro Power Quality in GE Vernova Quality council

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelors or masters degree in engineering (e.g. Mechanical Electrical Industrial Civil) or related technical discipline.

  • 10 years of Quality and project execution experience in the energy power generation or industrial sector.

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and practical deployment of QMS in project environments

  • Proven track record leading RCA (8D 5-Why Ishikawa) with measurable results

  • Experience interfacing with customers third-party inspectors and auditors

  • Experience effectively working in and managing a matrix environment and across different cultures

Desired

  • Background in hydro turbines/generators gates/valves large equipment manufacturing Engineering or complex site installation/commissioning

  • Experience with supplier quality for engineered-to-order components and third-party inspection coordination.

  • Customer-focused prevention-driven mindset with a strong sense of ownership.

  • Systematic problem-solver with bias for action and sustainable outcomes.

  • Influential communicator capable of operating at executive level.

  • Resilient adaptable and motivated by complex challenges.

  • Practical experience with Quality systems and understanding of fundamental quality principles

  • Practical experience with Lean techniques

  • Highly collaborative with demonstrated capability of driving change
