Southampton Store Support Office

Role Purpose: To execute SEO disciplines and best practice for B&Q (including Marketplace) Tradepoint and B&Q ROI to ensure we are visible and rank highly in search engine results pages for relevant terms whilst ensuring customers are presented with the best possible experience. This role is responsible for growing the organic visibility and traffic to categories and development of best practice across relevant channels and workstreams. Core responsibilities involve keyword research on-page optimisation technical SEO and off-page SEO strategies. SEO Specialists will champion the importance of organic across the business and ensure SEO is considered in all aspects of the digital strategy.

Whats the job

  • Drive significant revenue and traffic growth both online and in stores
  • Ownership of SEO performance within categories and specialism
  • Relentless optimisation of all available levers to increase our share of voice and visibility in SERPs
  • Responsible for quality assurance including redirects broken links and cannibalisation
  • Work closely with key teams including Digital Merchandising Product Data & Content Content PR Video Performance & Local teams to provide support and develop processes for best practice and ways of working
  • Act swiftly on opportunities to scale growth efficiently through identifying trends and opportunities in data
  • Own and conduct market and competitor research to leverage current and future strategic executions
  • Develop and test SEO initiatives that drive measurable improvements to performance
  • Act as a champion for all things organic to protect and grow organic traffic
  • Measure and report on performance of existing and new developments to key stakeholders
  • Work with agency partners to identify new innovations in search to ensure B&Q is leading the way for SEO
  • Utilise 3rd party partnerships to enhance our SEO program maturity
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in digital marketing and encourage change where necessary
  • Strive for a culture of excellence and continuous improvement

What we need:

  • Strong copywriting skills and understanding of on-page optimisation
  • Good level of knowledge of search engine ranking factors and off-page optimisation
  • Functional understanding of technical SEO and search engines
  • Familiar with SEO skills including auditing keyword research and competitive analysis
  • Functional comprehension of HTML/CSS
  • Experience using SEO tools including Google Analytics Google Search Console ContentKing BrightEdge
  • Deep understanding of search performance metrics
  • Must be detail-oriented organized and results-driven
  • Ability to collaborate across a mix of stakeholders in order to gain results
  • Ability to communicate opportunities and risks and a clear and compelling manner
  • Highly analytical and data-driven with the ability to draw conclusions and recommendations
  • Able to develop strong relationships with colleagues stakeholders and third-party suppliers to extract the best possible outcomes
  • Experience working as part of a team responsible for driving organic growthWilling to take risks to achieve exceptional results.
  • Can see the big picture and boil it down to action that delivers results
