Who You Are:
You are a collaborative and systems-minded volunteer leader responsible for ensuring that volunteer engagement best practices are consistently and successfully implemented across all assigned locations.
You are part of a programmatic team of three reporting to the Director of Volunteer Programs who sets organization-wide strategy standards tools and contrast your role is executional and relational: you ensure Habitat Team Members and their teams are fully onboarded trained coached and supported to implement best practices for excellence in real day-to-day environments.
You work closely with Store Managers and Site Superintendents who directly supervise their teams and oversee daily volunteer supervision. You do not manage on-location team members but you are a key partneraligning programmatic goals with site-specific realities building shared ownership and setting clear expectations for volunteer excellence.
This role requires a reliable on-site presence strong coaching skills and the ability to influence and lead across teams without direct supervision.
Note: We are hiring two Volunteer Program Managers (VPMs)one focused on ReStore volunteer programs including four retail locations and one focused on Construction and Repair volunteer programs across multiple build sites.

Youll be responsible for:
Implementing Best Practices 20%
  • Ensure organization-wide volunteer best practices are consistently implemented across all assigned locations
  • Translate volunteer program strategy into clear practical expectations for Habitat teams
  • Support alignment between organization-level goals and site-specific operational needs
  • Uphold consistency in volunteer experience while adapting implementation to different environments
Partnering with on-location leadership 10% (Store Managers/Site Superintendents)
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with on-location leaders to ensure commitment to volunteer engagement standards and best practices
  • Proactively identify gaps challenges or opportunities and work with site leadership to address them
Team Member Training and Coaching 40%
  • Train and support on-location leaders in guiding their teams to successfully implement volunteer systems expectations and workflows
  • Onboard train and coach Volunteer Coordinators/Site team members as they implement day-to-day volunteer operations at each location
  • Maintain a regular visible presence at stores or construction sites to reinforce expectations and support excellence
  • Set clear standards for volunteer experience communication and supervision including working shoulder-to-shoulder with on locationteam members to address any volunteer performance or behavior issues if they arise.
  • Support continuous improvement related to volunteer engagement safety and satisfaction
Evaluation & Continuous Improvement 5%
  • Partner with the Director of Volunteer Programs to implement assessment tools that evaluate program effectiveness using observations to identify opportunities and coach on-location team members toward continuous improvement.
Volunteer Recruitment Onboarding & Appreciation 25%
  • Lead volunteer recruitment retention and appreciation efforts to sustain a strong volunteer pipeline
  • Act as the primary point of contact for volunteer inquiries.
  • Oversee logisticsfor group volunteer days ensuring adequate management support for groups exceeding standard capacity.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners including schools workforce and rehabilitation programs faith organizations courts and businesses
  • Manage volunteer management software including inquiries scheduling communication and data tracking
  • Determine volunteer eligibility in accordance with the Volunteer Background Check Policy
To be successful in this role youll**:
  • 4 years of experience in volunteer program management or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated coaching and leadership skills with the ability to influence without direct supervisory authority
  • Excellent communication organization and follow-through skills
  • Comfort working on location and navigating dynamic fast-paced environments
  • Commitment to equity inclusion and creating welcoming volunteer experiences
**Any combination of formal education paid work experience unpaid/volunteer experience and life experience will be considered.
To be considered above and beyond the average candidate in this role youll also:
  • Currently Certified in Volunteer Administration (CVA) by Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration (CCVA)
Your work environment and activities:
OFFICE/HYBRID
  • Your workday will be located in a human-paced team-oriented business-casual style office setting.
  • Depending on the positionresponsibilities you may be eligible for remote/hybrid work based on performance and access to essential work-related resources.
  • While in the office you will routinely use standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • An office-based role means that your day will be mostly sedentary with some time spent moving files open filing cabinets bending and/or standing on a stool as necessary.
  • You regularly travel between other Habitat locations or temporary worksites.
Your Work Schedule:
OFFICE ALT SCHED VPM for ReStore
  • 40-hour work week generally Tuesday - Saturday 8:30am-4:30pm; some occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary
OFFICE ALT SCHED VPM for Construction
  • 40-hour work week generally Monday - Friday 8:30am-4:30pm; some occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary
Your Compensation:
We aim to offer competitive pay and benefits and are committed to equity and transparency in compensation. Basing compensation on a candidates willingness and/or ability to negotiate leads to inequities and bias in how employees are compensated particularly for historically oppressed groups. Instead we determine the best possible compensation offer based on base qualifications relevant experience internal equity and the candidates competencies for the role demonstrated during the hiring process.
Successful candidates are typically hired within the first half of the Pay Range and receive scheduled incremental increases. When starting in this position your compensation will generally be between $54998 - $67371.99 salaried not exceeding the range midpoint. The full range for this position is $54998 - $79497 salaried.
