Job Summary
The Model Development Analyst 2 job is responsible for generating data-driven insights into all modeling needs of the Banks and the practical results of models. The focus is to help the Banks understand their risk profiles risk management processes needed to support those risk profiles. Besides capital modeling the Model Development Analyst 2 will take ownership of stress testing in other areas including the stress testing required by Dodd Frank (DFAST) liquidity stress testing and other. They will also be responsible for other models such as CECL Pricing will also be responsible for analyzing the effects of policy and strategy changes on outcomes. Some of this analysis will entail the building of models some will require other analytical skills.Essential Job Functions
Model Analysis- Translates risk profiles into statistical models and analysis by completing the following types of models/analyses with the overarching goal of quantifying for senior management and the Boards of Directors risk levels and risk management processes needed to support those risk levels: CECL Capital Models Decision trees Regression modeling Stressed Testing incorporating macro-economic variables and scenarios Clustering Other data mining techniques. Usage of business intelligence tools to gather and analyze data. Builds predictive models using Statistical methodologies like Decision trees Regression modeling Clustering.
Business Relationships- Summarizes results into key insights that are easy to understand and useful; presents key findings and recommended solutions to internal and external business partners. Provides recommendations regarding how to use data science and models to drive critical business decisions. Translates partners business needs into analytics projects and can quickly estimate potential benefit. Thus must have strong knowledge of the business such as drivers of profitability system capabilities and company goals.
Create Solutions- Extracts data conducts exploratory data analysis and addresses common data issues like missing and extreme values. Trouble shoots and finds the best analytical technique to address the business problem. Documents analysis processes and results. Sees solutions through to completion by providing support for implementation of solutions and monitoring impact. Utilizes knowledge of Macro-economic variables and Macro-economic scenarios for Economic Capital Prediction and Stressed Testing. Influences change prioritizes efforts on critical initiatives and works to identify find solutions to opportunities.
Consultation- Participates in the consulting efforts for the Banks in the following ways: Generates innovative ideas/proposals regarding specific analytics projects that quantify risk levels. Designs and plans models/analyses. Develops key content for analytical presentations that are easy to understand and insightful for non-technical audiences. Completes the following R & D tasks: Researches industry trends in analytical approaches to economic capital and stress testing. Conducts exploratory analysis as well as testing/analyzing new methodologies. Translates analytical results into useful recommendations that increase risk quantification. Communicates effectively with vendors such as credit bureaus regarding new data and techniques used in the industry. Accurately foresees and estimates impact to all departments throughout Bread Financial. Provides support for outsourced models when the business need arises which may involve providing direction/input to the vendor.
Compliance- Maintains regulatory standards by doing the following: Completes all checks on model quality and stability and addresses potential issues effectively. Is aware of potential regulatory concerns and applies controls during model-building process. Creates clear and up-to-date documentation of all projects. Gains CLO Law and Compliance approval on all new models. Participates in model reviews when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or equivalent education in Finance Statistics Econometrics Quantitative Analysis Economics
3 years or more years expeirence developing statistical models and performing data mining analysis Hands-on experience in building sophisticated models to address business problems (regression segmentation decision trees time series design of experiments etc.) Translating analytics insights into business recommendations.
Preferred Experience:
Masters degree in Finance Statistics Econometrics Quantitative Analysis Economics
Five years or more years experience in extracting and manipulating large datasets Experience in CECL DFAST Treasury Models Pricing consumer credit Underwriting Collections and/or Fraud experience
