DescriptionThe Mayo Clinic Health System (MCHS) seeks a visionary strategic and inspirational leader to serve as the next Chair of the Family Medicine chair will lead MCHS to Category of One across the Family Medicine practice. With an administrative and nursing partner the chair is responsible for defining and implementing a strategic plan to ensure quality safety efficiency patient experience and staff collaboration with other leaders the chair will work to optimize the practice through the design development evaluation and prioritization of forward-looking innovative models as well as develop its research and education portfolios. The chair will be primarily located in Wisconsin or Minnesota and is responsible for developing the Family Medicine department across MCHS in an integrated coordinated and efficient manner and represents the MCHS perspective within the broader Mayo Clinic institution.
The Chair is accountable for providing leadership and collaboration in fulfilling the following objectives for the Family Medicine department in MCHS:
- Facilitate the development and implementation of the MCHS Family Medicine strategic plan by building multidisciplinary teams ensuring project execution and executing performance. Responsible for overall operational performance developing plans using a Now Near Far approach.
- Work with the state vice chairs to provide operational clinical and financial oversight for the MCHS states/regions. Track and communicate results/progress toward departmental performance measures and targets ensuring responsible resource allocation to achieve financial sustainability.
- Strive to develop a consistent and replicable standard of care throughout MCHS by disseminating and directing best practices.
- Ensure staff satisfaction and engagement through well-being creating a culture of recognition and sense of belonging. Establish and maintain a regular onsite presence and build relationships to provide effective leadership role modeling mentorship and support. Create an environment of open dialogue and team engagement
- Promote Mayo values culture and the Mayo Model of Care. Provide an environment that values diversity and enables people to develop their talents and do their best work individually and together.
- Collaborate closely with Family Medicine leaders while keeping MCHS Leadership informed on staff performance.
- Provide leadership and management of the practice within MCHS including:
- Lead recruitment efforts for new department staff in coordination with the state vice chairs and site leads.
- Represent MCHS in Enterprise Family Medicine meetings and committees as needed.
- Build and maintain relationships across Mayo Clinic Health System Family Medicine sites focusing on practice operations information systems culture and market dynamics.
- Communicate regularly with staff regarding institutional system and departmental practice updates.
- Align critical resources to achieve departmental goals and advance Mayo Clinics three shields.
- Promote and foster development of Family Medicine research and education programs.
- Partner with Family Medicine leaders on performance management activities including OPPE FPPE annual reviews SAC-to-CON promotions and academic rank advancements.
- Collaborate closely with the Enterprise department chairs of Family Medicine to ensure alignment and integration of initiatives
- Strategize collaborate and implement primary care programs with Department Chairs of Community Internal Medicine and Community Pediatrics through Mayo Clinic Health System Primary Care Committee.
- Exemplify Mayo Clinics principles and values.
- Serve as a servant leader who puts the needs goals and objectives of the institution and department above personal needs goals and objectives
- Demonstrates leadership competencies including a record of willingness to make difficult decisions and drive successful implementation of priorities.
- Builds rapport and relationships with strategic partners leadership physicians scientists and administrators.
- Listen actively and communicate effectively. Accepts feedback from peers and discerns the interests of potential partners.
- Possesses leadership experience preferably in managing a Family Medicine department or serving in an institutional leadership role.
- Successful leadership role in academic medicineand/orcommunity ideal candidate will be an associate professor or professor of medicine and be an academically active leaderremainingso during theirtenure. Assistant Professor with leadership experience will be considered.
- Maintain an active clinical practice and manage patient panel within Mayo Clinic Health System.
QualificationsQualifications: Must be board-certified in Family Medicine and have or able to obtain a Wisconsin and/or Minnesota medical license.
