Technology & Infrastructure (T & I) team is the backbone and the future forward arm of CBC/Radio-Canada. We are the people that make stuff work. We make connections; between media content systems people and places. We are the space in between.

What Youll Do

Were currently looking for a Senior Manager Production Technology Support who will report to the Director Montreal Infrastructure Solutions.

In this position youll be a strategic engaging leader and collaborator responsible for managing the technology support teams for CBC/Radio-Canadas News Radio Television and Communications departments in Montreal.

Your mission is to streamline the employee experience by providing support teams with guidance on best troubleshooting work closely with directors and managers to shape operational and strategic direction.

As the primary point of contact for our production units your team plays a vital role not only in rapid problem-solving but also in proactive initiatives like continuous training preventative maintenance and regular risk assessments. Your leadership will ensure we anticipate challenges optimize performance and maintain a smooth secure production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead develop mentor and support the team responsible for technical support of mission-critical broadcast systems in Montreal (supporting staff for News Radio and General Television at Maison de Radio-Canada and Studio Grandé).
  • Liaise with production partners ensuring ongoing support requirements are met 24-7.
  • Promote the importance of production services and technical support to ensure the highest quality of service across the organization.
  • React quickly and effectively when systems are in crisis or exhibit chronic issues marshalling appropriate internal and external resources for timely and effective troubleshooting and resolution.
  • Develop and manage relationships with vendors of all support systems and equipment.
  • Maintain effective relationships with other departments (Production Engineering Enterprise Applications Human Resources Finance etc.).
  • With the Director strategize and implement optimum configuration of support departments in support of corporate direction and initiatives such as the evolution of broadcast systems.
  • Organize maintain and implement an effective training plan for all staff.
  • Manage the overall departmental budget with the Director.
  • Review and approve expenses for parts equipment and related expenditures.
  • Optimize technical support within production workflows and drive continuous improvements to businesses processes and technology solutions.
  • Develop organize and manage service ticket licensing and documentation workflows.

What You Bring

  • Extensive experience leading technical support teams within a production environment.
  • Focus on supporting and engaging the people in your team by being present listening to them and actively involving them in finding solutions. Openness to change and new solutions/technologies while fostering an innovative collaborative team dynamic.
  • Strong partner focus.
  • Ability to de-escalate tense situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with people at all levels of the Corporation and external/internal clients demonstrating high-quality written and oral communication skills and diplomacy to effectively handle difficult situations.
  • Knowledge of management practices including supervision and professional staff leadership as well as internal practices and procedures relating to budgeting staffing procurement contract management etc.
  • Ability to help people achieve their goals.
  • Understanding of core broadcast technology and infrastructure.
  • Engaging leadership that fosters a respectful supportive and open-minded culture in your team.
  • Five or more years experience in a management role.
  • University degree in management or a combination of training and experience deemed relevant.
  • Bilingualism: Proficiency in both English and French required.
