Job Summary

The Behavior Consultant is responsible for providing Behavior Support Services that are founded upon the principles of person-centered care positive behavior supports and self-determination. The objective of the Behavior Consultant is to effectively develop supports in the persons environment and improve interactions with service providers and other team members. The basic tool for accomplishing these supports will be a Behavior Support Plan structured to address: a) challenging behaviors b) cognitive processing c) communication skills d) self-help activities e) impulse control and/or f) adaptive skills. Specific services provided by the Behavior Consultant will include an assessment development of the behavior plan coaching of the clients caregivers on the behavior plan and subsequent monitoring and reassessment to assure that the plan is and remains effective.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Possess a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) graduate level certification or
  • Possess a Master of Arts or Master of Science in psychology sociology human services education social work or other social or behavioral sciences or the equivalent and one year of experience using positive behavior support services with individuals who experience intellectual or developmental disabilities or other related condition or
  • Possess a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in psychology sociology human services education social work social sciences behavioral sciences or the equivalent as evidenced by transcripts indicating a minimum of six courses in these fields and two years of experience using positive behavior support services with individuals who experience intellectual or developmental disabilities or other related conditions.
  • A minimum of six years of experience providing professional behavior services with individuals who experience intellectual or developmental disabilities prior to January 1 2023.
  • At least two years of experience in delivery of services in providing services to seniors persons with physical disabilities persons with mental health illness or persons with developmental disabilities.
  • Able to work with limited supervision displaying initiative and creativity in the workplace.
  • Valid Oregon drivers license and insurable to Sunrise insurance carrier.
  • Pass criminal history check including fingerprints and an additional CJIS background check.
  • Pass drug screen including marijuana/THC.
  • Must have ability and desire to relate to persons with physical/mental disabilities with dignity and respect.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Conduct functional behavior assessments and related evaluations in accordance with ODDS requirements
  • Develop implement and monitor behavior support plans based on positive behavior support principles
  • Ensure behavior support plans are person-centered trauma-informed and use the least intrusive methods necessary
  • Provide training technical assistance and consultation to direct support professionals families and interdisciplinary team members
  • Monitor data collection analyze outcomes and revise behavior support plans as needed
  • Maintain a current approved criminal background check specific to their role as a behavior professional as described in OAR 407-through .
  • Complete a minimum of 12 hours each enrollment period of ongoing education.
  • Maintain certification in an ODDS-approved behavior intervention curriculum.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings service planning and reviews
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate timely and maintained in compliance with ODDS standards
  • Maintain professional boundaries and ethical practice consistent with behavior support standards.
  • Serve as a role model for appropriate work behaviors social skills respect for others and cooperation.
  • Perform duties and complete tasks as requested by supervisor in a reasonable amount of time.
  • Maintain agency records in a professional manner consistent with prescribed guidelines and expectations.
  • Attend and participate in required meetings trainings and committees.
  • accountable for providing services within their scope of qualification and training and for adhering to ODDS requirements Sunrise Services policies and applicable ethical standards.
  • Do not exceed responsibility/authority delegated to you by supervisor.
  • Exhibit good judgment in situations not specifically covered by agency policy or procedures.
  • Participate in safety and safety programs.
  • Keep work area in a clean safe condition.
  • Must be dependable and maintain a good attendance record.
  • Report any safety hazards accidents incidents of neglect abuse emergencies or problems to supervisor and/or appropriate person per policy.
  • Submit timesheets and other required documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Meet regular attendance requirements at assigned worksite because job requires face-to-face interaction with clients customers or other employees.
