Job Summary

JOB OVERVIEW:

To manage Organisations exploration and appraisal activities to maximise the value of operated and non-operated acreage and to generate a portfolio of potential Exploration projects.

To act as the focal point for the management of upstream new business in Pakistan identifying evaluating and recommending new opportunities for the company.

Requirements

  • B.S in Geological Sciences or related discipline
  • Technical excellence in Geoscience
  • Good interpersonal skills tact patience ability to adapt interest and curiosity on professional and cultural matters.
  • Good negotiating managerial and communication skills.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Reference is made to the Annex G of the MSG Anti-Corruption on Relations with the Public Administration and Relevant Private Entities and management of inspection and requests by the Authorities. The Job Holder is authorized and has the power to interact with the Public Authorities (as defined in Annex G) in accordance with the process laid down in the Annex strictly for the purposes of discharging his/her official responsibilities detailed in this job description.
  • Propose and implement E&A work programmes and budgets in operated licenses in line with Organisation and Corporate strategic objectives.
  • Refine concur and implement E&A work programmes and budgets in non-operated licenses in line with Organisation and Corporate strategic objectives.
  • Identify and deliver focussed and material Exploration New Business opportunities.
  • Promote Exploration New Business opportunities to the technical and economic review (VALP and PRC).
  • Protect the interests and facilitate the success of the Organisation business unit as a member of the Management Team.
  • Manage Staff to evaluate and deliver a high standard of technical performance.
  • Develop efficient organisational structure in the Exploration department. Provide appropriate resources training and working environment to develop National and Expatriate staff to achieve their professional potential and to facilitate inter-departmental teamwork.
  • Maintain and facilitate working contacts between Exploration Department and technical departments.
  • Maintain and implement excellent working relations with Partners Governmental Organization and Contractors.

HSE Responsibilities

  • Strive to achieve ZERO Lost Work Injury (LWI) in the workplace throughout the year.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to Health Safety and the Environment through:
  • Adherence to Organisation HSE Policy.
  • Adherence to HSE Integrated Management System.
  • Prevention control and mitigation of major accidents (For Bhit Field employees).
  • Use of proper PPE during field activities.
  • Compliance to site specific PTW requirements (if any).
  • Identification of HSE hazards in the workplace.
  • Reporting of HSE Accident/Incidents.
  • Adherence to Organisation Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment Procedure.
  • Additional HSE Responsibilities of HODs / Supervisory positions:
  • Ensuring adherence for self and all reports to HSE Integrated Management System Procedures (HOD Supervisory positions).
  • Compliance to HSE Legal/Regulatory & other requirements as identified in Organisations Legal Registers for On-shore & Off-shore Operations (HOD Supervisory positions).
  • Employing only trained and skilled personnel on specialized activity including Emergency Response (HOD Supervisory positions).
  • Ensuring awareness of company emergency response procedure (HOD Supervisory positions).
  • Ensuring adequate training for all staff to be able to perform their jobs in a safe manner.
  • Ensuring Awareness of Company Emergency Response Procedure

Decision Making Authority

  • Technical decision-making responsibility internally and at TCM definition of Exploration and appraisal well locations and placement of seismic acquisition programs.
  • Technical and commercial evaluations leading to recommendations on potential new business.
  • Line management of Exploration and New Business Team.
  • OCM alternate representative in Exploration licenses.

Job Challenges And Problem Solving

  • Ensure Organisation remains a material core business by undertaking successful and cost-effective exploration so contributing to Companys reserves replacement.
  • Deliver high quality Exploration New business.
  • Influence Partners especially in non-operated licenses and Government to achieve optimum work programs and outcomes.
  • Achieve the most cost-effective exploration activity.
  • Apply Company HSES standards policies and procedures in the exploration activity.
  • Manage staff to achieve their professional potential and facilitate inter-departmental team-work

Relationships Management

Internal

  • With subordinates provide environment and organization to maximise teamwork and synergies between departments.
  • With superiors maximise communications to perform and deliver in line with Organisation and Corporate strategic objectives.

External

  • Develop influential relations with DGPC and Partners to facilitate successful delivery of work programs.
  • Cultivate contacts with other Companies regulatory bodies and non-government organizations. Ensure contractors employ the quality and HSES standards.
