Job Summary

Controls Technician Night Shift

Location: Salt Lake City UT
Shift: 2-2-3 rotation Nights (6:00 PM 6:30 AM)
Pay Range: $38 $45/hour (DOE)
Employment Type: Direct Hire preferred (open to Contract-to-Hire)

Overview

A rapidly growing highly automated food manufacturing facility is seeking a Senior Controls Technician to support night shift operations. This role is critical to maintaining production uptime by troubleshooting modifying and validating PLC and controls systems in a live manufacturing environment.

This is not a full greenfield programming role but the ideal candidate must be comfortable writing adjusting and troubleshooting PLC code to resolve issues quickly and keep production running-especially when mitigating risks related to parts availability or process changes.

Key Responsibilities

Troubleshoot modify and validate PLC code to restore and maintain production
Support automated baking and frozen treat production lines (85 90% automated)
Diagnose and resolve issues related to:
- PLC logic
- Servo systems
- VFDs and motor control
Adjust servo parameters integrals and motion profiles as required
Troubleshoot electrical control systems and support senior-level diagnostics
Partner with maintenance and operations teams to minimize downtime
Support batching systems and ongoing automation expansions

Required Technical Skills

Allen-Bradley PLCs (Studio 5000)
Ability to write modify and troubleshoot PLC code
Strong working knowledge of:
- Servo systems (Kinetix or similar)
- VFDs (PowerFlex 525 and comparable drives)
- Motor control and motion systems
Electrical troubleshooting experience in an industrial environment

Preferred / Plus Skills

Experience with batching systems (Sepasoft)
Experience with Ignition SCADA
Background in food & beverage baking cereal or beverage manufacturing
Experience in highly automated production facilities
Exposure to AGVs or advanced material handling automation
