Controls Technician Night Shift
Location: Salt Lake City UT
Shift: 2-2-3 rotation Nights (6:00 PM 6:30 AM)
Pay Range: $38 $45/hour (DOE)
Employment Type: Direct Hire preferred (open to Contract-to-Hire)
Overview A rapidly growing highly automated food manufacturing facility is seeking a Senior Controls Technician to support night shift operations. This role is critical to maintaining production uptime by troubleshooting modifying and validating PLC and controls systems in a live manufacturing environment.
This is not a full greenfield programming role but the ideal candidate must be comfortable writing adjusting and troubleshooting PLC code to resolve issues quickly and keep production running-especially when mitigating risks related to parts availability or process changes.
Key Responsibilities -
Troubleshoot modify and validate PLC code to restore and maintain production

Support automated baking and frozen treat production lines (85 90% automated)

Diagnose and resolve issues related to:

PLC logic
-
Servo systems
-
VFDs and motor control
-
Adjust servo parameters integrals and motion profiles as required
-
Troubleshoot electrical control systems and support senior-level diagnostics
-
Partner with maintenance and operations teams to minimize downtime
-
Support batching systems and ongoing automation expansions
Required Technical Skills -
Allen-Bradley PLCs (Studio 5000)

Ability to write modify and troubleshoot PLC code
-
Strong working knowledge of:
-
Servo systems (Kinetix or similar)
-
VFDs (PowerFlex 525 and comparable drives)
-
Motor control and motion systems
-
Electrical troubleshooting experience in an industrial environment
Preferred / Plus Skills -
Experience with batching systems (Sepasoft)

Experience with Ignition SCADA
-
Background in food & beverage baking cereal or beverage manufacturing
-
Experience in highly automated production facilities
-
Exposure to AGVs or advanced material handling automation
