Responsibilities
Technical Responsibilities
- Architect install configure and maintain enterprise-grade databases across platforms (Oracle SQL Server PostgreSQL MongoDB MySQL).
- Lead performance tuning initiatives: query optimization index/partition strategies and database parameter tuning.
- Implement robust backup/recovery strategies and disaster recovery plans using RMAN and other tools.
- Manage high-availability solutions including Oracle RAC Data Guard replication and failover mechanisms.
- Ensure database security through encryption (TDE) auditing and compliance with GDPR/HIPAA.
- Oversee capacity planning storage optimization and SLA compliance.
- Collaborate with DevOps and CloudOps teams for CI/CD integration and automation using tools like Docker Kubernetes Terraform.
- Troubleshoot complex issues conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for configurations standards and operational procedures.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Mentor and coach a team of DBAs fostering technical growth and best practices.
- Provide constructive feedback and career development guidance.
- Coordinate workload distribution and ensure timely delivery of projects.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders on database health incidents and strategic initiatives.
Skills and Experience
- Expert-level proficiency in at least two major database platforms (Relational: Oracle SQL Server PostgreSQL MySQL and NoSQL like MongoDB Redis).
- 812 years of progressive experience in database administration with a proven track record of transformative leadership and collaborative excellence.
- Strong knowledge of cloud database services (AWS RDS Azure SQL OCI).
- Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with DevOps practices CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with monitoring tools (New Relic DataDog SolarWinds).
- Knowledge of SaaS architecture and security best practices.
