The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) is seeking dedicated candidates to fill important roles within our department. Main Purpose of Job

Reviews verifies and interprets information in order to make determinations and resolve problems involving the calculation of adultincarcerated individualsprison sentences in accordance with State laws and the regulations and policies of the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services.

POSITION DUTIES

Reviews audits adjusts inmaterecords following specialized commitment procedures which may include:

Reviewingand adjusting Incarcerated Individual commitment information upon intake.

AdjustingIncarcerated Individual records as necessary in instances of escape release orparole violations.

Reviewingand adjusting an Incarcerated Individual records prior to release courtappearances or transfers.

Process 50to 60 new commitment packets for verification and file in active files.

Process 50to 60 Incarcerated Individual papers and prepare for release daily.

Process thepreparation of approximately 250 Incarcerated Individual commitment papers forcourt appearance in District and Circuit Court.

Process 30or more sentenced Incarcerated Individual for transfer to Division ofCorrections.

Processesother Incarcerated Individual information into Statewide Computer Systemmaintaining necessary backup information including but not limited to:

Placing andlifting detainer information

PostingIncarcerated Individual good conduct credits or revocation of credits.

Postingcourt dates dispositions or other pertinent information.

Prepare and processes necessary correspondence regarding IncarceratedIndividual sentencing to include but not limited to:

Writing orcalling courts for clarification of sentencing or commitment documents.

Providingoutside agencies or individuals such as bail bondsmen attorneys detentioncenters etc. with requesting information.

Prepares Incarcerated Individual commitment files or recordsneeded on a daily basis for court appearance and coordinates their transportwith staff from the appropriate Transportation Unit. Processes returning courtpaperwork i.e. original detainers copies of commitment records etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of experience in reviewing verifying and interpreting information for compliance with laws regulations and policies.

Notes:

1. Applicants may substitute education from an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for one year of experience for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

  • Personal Leave - new State employees are awarded six (6) personnel days annually (prorated based on start date).
  • Annual Leave - ten (10) days of accumulated annual leave per year.
  • Sick Leave - fifteen (15) days of accumulated sick leave per year.
  • Parental Leave - up to sixty (60) days of paid parental leave upon the birth or adoption of a child.
