Job Summary

Essential Job Functions

  • Tariff Classification
  • Assess the classification of goods using the Harmonised System (HS) and Combined Nomenclature (CN) codes. Conduct product research and liaise with internal teams and clients to ensure correct classification and duty optimisation.
  • Compliance Framework
  • Support the development implementation and maintenance of internal controls including policies procedures and work instructions to ensure compliance with EU and Irish customs regulations as well as applicable dual-use and trade control laws.
  • Regulatory Analysis
  • Monitor and interpret changes in EU customs legislation including the Union Customs Code (UCC) and assess their impact on operations. Recommend and implement necessary adjustments to maintain compliance.
  • Training and Awareness
  • Deliver training to staff involved in customs and trade compliance activities ensuring alignment with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Customs Operations Oversight
  • Ensure that all customs clearance activities are conducted in accordance with Irish Revenue and EU requirements. Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of import/export declarations including transit and warehousing procedures.
  • Audit and Risk Management
  • Plan and lead internal audits of customs processes. Analyse documentation for completeness accuracy and compliance. Report findings and recommend corrective actions to senior management.
  • Technology and Process Improvement
  • Evaluate and implement technologies to streamline customs processes and improve data accuracy and efficiency.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting
  • Produce regular and ad hoc reports metrics and presentations for senior leadership highlighting trends risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Liaison with Authorities
  • Act as the primary point of contact with Irish Revenue Customs Division and other relevant authorities. Support investigations detentions and post-clearance audits as required.
  • Regulatory Engagement
  • Engage with relevant EU and Irish regulatory bodies to resolve compliance issues and stay informed of upcoming changes in trade legislation.
  • Policy Development
  • Establish and maintain customs compliance policies and procedures. Ensure documentation is up to date and accessible.
  • Communication and Collaboration
  • Promote compliance awareness across the organisation through internal communications and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Responsibility for AEO status and ensuring all locations remain compliant and AEO information is kept up to date.
  • Coordinate ISO programme across the 3 sites and ensure programme is maintained and audits are completed.
  • Responsible for Quality and Compliance audit across Irish sites including facility and file audits.
  • Liaise with stations and facility managers as well as senior management on security requirements in the Ireland facilities.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to solve problems quickly
  • Ability to work in a fast paced work environment

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree or business experience.
  • Direct experience and working knowledge of Customs brokerage.
  • Minimum of 10 years work experience relative to brokerage.

Certifications and License

  • Professional certification may be required in some areas.
  • Brokers License.
