The Seminary Major Gift Officer will become a member of the advancement staff at the university and participate in the life of the Seminary. Leveraging the resources of the broader university this person will develop a new base of supporting churches businesses alums and other donors with the goal of the seminary being able to offer additional financial aid to students entering into ministry degrees and fundraising for the seminary/seminary scholarships. This position is fully grant funded until December 31 2026 with the university assuming responsibility for this position after this.
Essential Functions
- Take primary responsibility for raising seminary ministry scholarship funds.
- Participate as a member of both the Seminary and Advancement teams.
- Coordinate components of the seminarys gifts with the universitys Advancement department.
- Ensure the proper and timely receipt of all seminary gifts.
- Promote a culture of philanthropy within the seminary and among its alumni and constituents.
- Create an annual seminary ministry development plan to include the raising of scholarship funds with VP for Advancement.
- Seminary event coordination/implementation/promotion
- Prioritize strategize and facilitate the engagement of Seminary donors.
- Manage budgeted expenses for seminary fundraising.
- Develop strategic networks to build friends and funders for the seminary and to enhance the visibility of the seminary.
- Develop fundraising print and electronic communication and promotional literature as needed.
- Meet monthly and annual goals.
- Complete monthly quarterly and annual reports of activities and outcomes.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy that aligns with the organizations long-term goals while continuously evaluating and effectiveness of strategies and adjusting them based on performance metrics.
- Work nights and weekends as needed.
- Travel as needed.
- Demonstrate a commitment to serving and inspiring students and colleagues in a context of a Christian University integrating your Christian faith into your role and responsibilities.

Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum 4 years of related work experience with at least 2 years of fundraising experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Relational outgoing team-player able to interact with people in a warm professional manner.
- Ability to think conceptually and strategically.
- Fluent in contemporary social media
- Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment including Word and Excel
- Valid California Drivers license
Preferred:
- Bachelors and/or Masters degree
- Related professional certification (i.e. CFRE)
- Knowledge of and experience with fundraising and donor management software (Raisers Edge)
- 2-5 years of experience in donor development and fundraising
- Spanish fluency
Environmental Conditions:
- Indoors in a normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise dust fumes vibrations and temperature changes at least eighty percent (80%) of the time.
- Frequent computer use at a workstation up to eight hours per day.
- Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
- Drive personal or University vehicles to appointments.
- Public contact position requiring professional apparel personal hygiene and grooming.
Physical Demands:
- This position typically functions indoors in an office environment with light to moderate noise associated with business office equipment. The position may involve travel for meetings and events.
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to: remain in a stationary position 80 % of the time be able to move about inside the office to access file cabinets/office machinery etc. operate a computer and keyboard and other office productivity machinery such as calculators/copy machines/printers. The employee is occasionally required to position self to reach items on the floor and in high cabinetry.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Employee must be able to communicate with others to exchange information including both over the telephone and in-person communication with callers and community members and be able to read a computer screen and paper documents.

University Information
$75000 to $95000 is the annual salary for this role and reflects what Fresno Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on qualifications experience and internal addition to compensation FPU offers a competitive benefits package.
