The Deputy CAD Manager will support the CAD Manager in overseeing the development implementation and maintenance of CAD standards and workflows for Digital Practice and Technology projects. This role ensures design accuracy efficiency and compliance with industry and client standards while mentoring CAD technicians and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing CAD production for transportation projects site survey and right-of-way projects.
- Develop and expand standard practices and procedures related to survey and LiDAR processing.
- Maintain and enforce CAD standards templates and workflows across all design teams.
- Coordinate with engineers and project managers to ensure timely and accurate deliverables.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for CAD software (AutoCAD Civil 3D MicroStation etc.).
- Train and mentor CAD technicians on best practices and emerging technologies.
- Support BIM integration and digital design initiatives for infrastructure projects.
- Develop and expand CAD QAQC practices and procedures.
- Monitor quality control of CAD deliverables and ensure compliance with DOT and client specifications
- Participate in software upgrades testing and implementation of new tools.
Qualifications :
Minimum:
- BA/BS Civil Engineering Drafting or related field and 4 years of experience in CAD design for transportation infrastructure or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educaton
- Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation; knowledge of BIM workflows
- Knowledgeable in transportation design standards (AASHTO DOT guidelines)
Preferred:
- Experience with 3D modeling and visualization tools.
- Experience with LiDAR feature extraction
- Familiarity with project collaboration platforms (ProjectWise BIM 360).
- Knowledge of scripting or automation for CAD efficiency
- Proficient in organizational and communication skill
- Experience leading and mentoring teams in fast-paced environments
