Patient Care Tech PCT Ortho TraumaSurgery

Full time - Night Shift - 36 hours.

The Ortho Trauma General Surgery Unitis a 32-bed acute care surgical inpatient unit with telemetry monitoring that provides care to primarily orthopedic ortho-spine trauma and general surgery patients. Common diagnoses and surgical procedures include the following: open reductions external fixation applications intermedullary nail insertions joint replacements laminectomies spinal fusions post-motor vehicle accident with multiple traumas post-violent crimes spinal cord tumors small bowel obstructions and abscess irrigation and debridement. Most patients admitted are transferred from intensive care units post-anesthesia care units and the emergency room. This is a fast-paced environment rich with many opportunities for learning. It uses a multidisciplinary approach to patient care that promotes teamwork between physicians nursing staff care management therapy and a variety of other disciplines to provide the most comprehensive care to their patients. This units powerful teamwork is the drive for its safe patient-centered care and healthy work environment that allows for the staff to thrive and grow both personally and professionally.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Active Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA) in Maryland is required
• 1 year of acute care (hospital) tech experience within the most recent 2 years is required (EMT or CRT experience may be considered)
• BLS CPR certification required: AHA Red Cross or Military Training Network accepted.
