Providence Hall seeks a highly skilled and enthusiastic Elementary (K-5)-Junior High (6-8)-High School (9-12) full-time paraprofessional (special education) to join our team. As a Providence Hall paraprofessional (special education) you provide instructional behavioral and other support to special education students in the classroom or other areas of the campus to include one-on-one support for them.

Schedule:

• Up to 40 hours/week during the school year on days when students are present
  
• May need to attend some department building and LEA professional development trainings and meetings

Responsibilities:

• Prepare the classroom to promote a healthy and safe learning environment for assigned student(s).
• Ensure classroom safety guidelines are met at all times.
• Utilize various techniques to be successful with managing assigned student(s).
• Engage with assigned student(s) to enhance and encourage learning.
• Assist the teacher(s) in modifying materials to meet specific needs of assigned student(s).
• Provide basic caregiving duties support and encouragement in all aspects of development of assigned student(s).
• Take necessary precautions to protect assigned student(s).
• Monitor assigned student(s) in the classroom to minimize distractions and disruptions.
• Assist students with personal hygiene diapering/toileting feeding etc. as needed.
  
• Collaborate with colleagues to support the MTSS process and support the school in general.
• Maintain effective communication channels with students parents/guardians and colleagues to ensure a collaborative learning community.
  
• Actively participate in assigned meetings professional developments and other trainings.
  
• Other responsibilities as assigned.
  

Qualifications:

• High school diploma GED or equivalent.
• Bilingual Spanish speaker preferred.
• Previous experience working with children in an instructional setting preferred.
• Good organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
• Positive interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to maintain calm in high-stress situations.
• Willing to effectively problem-solve as needed.
  
• Basic knowledge of Google Workspace and its collaboration tools.
• Capacity to perform all the responsibilities listed in this posting.
• Must pass a comprehensive background check including criminal history and professional references as a condition of employment.
• The position requires frequent bending kneeling and crouching to engage with students at their level and to perform instructional and supervisory duties in classroom and school facility environments.
  
• Lift up to 25 pounds traverse school facilities and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.
