We are hiring for the Ontario Police College (OPC) Fall 2026intake. Contingent on space at Ontario Police College some candidates may be offered a position for the OPC Winter 2026 intake.

The start date for this position would commence late-August 2026. Successful candidates will complete three (3) weeks of in-person training with our in-house Training Unit prior to attending the Ontario Police College (OPC). Following the in-house training candidates will complete three (3) weeks of online OPC courses at the Belleville Police Service followed by attending OPC in-person for ten (10) weeks. Candidates are required to successfully pass the Basic Constable Course at the Ontario Police College prior to commencing any further training with the Belleville Police Service.

Completed application packages must be submitted no later than Thursday April 9th 2026.

Applicants must have an Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) Certificate obtained through the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police.

Applicants for the Belleville Police Service position of Police Constable must meet or surpass the following minimum requirements and standards:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada and legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possess a Grade 12 graduation diploma or equivalent or post-secondary education at an accredited college or university as an adult student as a minimum.
  • Post-secondary education is considered an asset.
  • Possess a valid Class G drivers license and suitable driving record.
  • Possess a valid standard or emergency First Aid and CPR Level C certificates.
  • Possess a complete and validOntario Association of Chiefs of Police(OACP) Certificate.
  • Be in good health (physically and mentally fit) and meet the physical mental and medical requirements of the OACP and Belleville Police Service.
  • Have no criminal record for which a pardon has not been received.
  • Be of good moral character and habitsmeaning that you are an individual other people would look upon as being trustworthy and having integrity.

Recruitment steps for Police Constable include:

1. Application Submission Review

2. Written Assessments (Pre-Background and Local Focus Questionnaires)

3. Fitness Assessments Belleville Police Service utilizes the Ontario Police Fitness Award (OPFA) Pin Program for our Constable Selection. This process is overseen by an insured third-party. The assessment consists of: Push-Ups Trunk Forward Flexion Core Endurance & Shuttle Run (it is a bona fide requirement that candidates must meet level seven)

4. Essential Competency Interview

5. Executive Leader Interview

6. Psychological Assessment

7. Comprehensive Background Investigation (education employment personal history credit and reference checks as well as home visits)

8. Third-party medical examination

  • Copy of the OACP Certificate
  • Completed OACP Fitness Log
  • Completed OACP Vision and Hearing Assessment Forms

  • Copy of valid First Aid and CPR certificates
  • Letters of reference related to employment or community service
  • Certificates of Achievement
