Business Development & Sales Leader

Luxury Residential Construction (Design-Build)

About the Role

Our client is a growing design-driven luxury residential construction firm specializing in high-end remodels and custom homes. They are hiring a Business Development & Sales Leader to own and scale the front end of the revenue engine from first contact through signed pre-construction or design agreements.

This role blends relationship-based business development with consultative sales execution. In the near term you will partner closely with ownership to advance and close opportunities. Over time this role is expected to evolve into a true sales leader position owning deals independently and helping build a scalable sales function.

This is not a transactional sales role. Success requires patience credibility and the ability to guide affluent clients through complex high-value decisions.

To drive predictable profitable growth by leading the sales process from first contact through signed construction agreements while ensuring alignment with company values client expectations and operational capacity.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Relationship Building
  • Build and maintain strong referral relationships with architects interior designers luxury realtors and aligned industry partners
  • Actively network within the local luxury residential and design community
  • Position our client as a trusted design-build partner for high-end projects
  • Create consistent high-quality touch points (calls meetings site visits coffees lunches events)
Sales & Client Engagement
  • Own the sales process from first contact through signed Design Pre-Construction and Construction Agreements
  • Lead qualification calls consultations and site visits
  • Clearly communicate process scope expectations and value
  • Present proposals handle objections and move clients confidently toward commitment
  • Partner with ownership on select deals today with full closing responsibility transitioning over time
Pipeline & CRM Management
  • Manage all inbound and outbound leads through HubSpot
  • Respond to 100% of inbound leads within 2 business hours
  • Professionally disqualify non-fit prospects early
  • Maintain a healthy pipeline of 3 annual revenue target
  • Ensure 100% CRM accuracy and timely reporting
Proposals Contracts & Handoff
  • Collaborate with estimating design and operations teams to develop accurate proposals
  • Ensure scopes budgets and documentation are complete prior to handoff
  • Maintain less than 5% variance between signed agreement and pre-construction estimates
Sales Strategy & Leadership
  • Track KPIs conversion rates and forecasted revenue
  • Provide weekly pipeline reporting to leadership
  • Collaborate with ownership on pricing strategy qualification standards and messaging
  • As the company scales help standardize sales practices and mentor future sales hires
Performance Expectations (KPIs)
  • Consultation Proposal Conversion: 70%
  • Proposal Contract Conversion: 3040%
  • Annual Sales Volume:
    • $6M production (near term)
    • $8M closed volume as role matures
  • Average Project Size:
    • $500K remodels
    • $1.5M custom homes
  • Lead Response Time:
    • 100% of leads contacted within 2 business hours
  • CRM Accuracy: 100%

Ideal Candidate Profile

You are likely a strong fit if you bring:
  • 5 years of consultative sales experience in high-value residential construction design-build luxury remodeling architecture interior design or luxury real estate
  • Comfort working with affluent discerning clients and long sales cycles
  • Strong relationship-building and networking capability within the design/construction ecosystem
  • Confidence leading structured consultations and presenting complex proposals
  • High personal accountability and ownership mindset
  • Ability to balance creativity professionalism and disciplined execution
Design or construction fluency is strongly preferred but sales mastery and credibility matter more than technical depth technical expertise is supported internally.

Work Schedule & Location
  • Full-time MondayFriday (8:00 AM 5:00 PM)
  • Primarily onsite and in-market
  • Office client sites and networking events throughout the local area
  • Occasional evenings or weekends for events or key client meetings

  • Estimating & proposal software (JobTread preferred)
  • Google Workspace
  • File management and collaboration tools
Compensation & Benefits
  • Base Salary: $70000 $85000 (Depending on Experience)
  • On-Target Earnings: $120K
  • Commission: Tiered commission on closed contracts (paid after first construction invoice)
  • Bonuses:
    • Tier achievement bonuses
    • Annual company profitability bonus (up to 12% of base salary)
