Job Summary

Registered Nurse (RN) Emergency Department (ED)

Shift: Night Shift
Schedule: 36 hours/week (3x12s)
Weekends: 1 2 weekends in a 4-week schedule
Location: Kansas City KS

Position Summary

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) provides high-quality patient-centered care to individuals presenting with acute urgent and emergent conditions. The ED RN demonstrates clinical expertise critical thinking and strong communication skills while working in a fast-paced environment. This role requires the ability to rapidly assess prioritize and manage patient care while collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform rapid patient assessments triage and ongoing reassessments

  • Provide direct nursing care to emergency and trauma patients

  • Administer medications IV fluids and emergency treatments per physician orders

  • Monitor patient conditions and respond promptly to changes

  • Utilize evidence-based practices and ED protocols

  • Accurately document patient care in the electronic medical record

  • Collaborate with physicians paramedics and ancillary staff

  • Educate patients and families on care plans and discharge instructions

  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies safety standards and regulatory requirements

Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Kansas or compact)

  • Minimum 1 2 years of recent Emergency Department experience preferred

  • BLS required

  • ACLS required

  • PALS and/or TNCC preferred

  • Strong critical thinking multitasking and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and in high-pressure situations
