Location: Weed Army Community Hospital (WACH) Fort Irwin CA 92310
Tentative Start Date: 1 April 2026
Work Schedule: 24/7 Emergency Department coverage; Monday - Sunday Day Shift: 06:00 18:00; Night Shift: 18:00 06:00; Maximum 60 hours per week (No on-call requirements)
No. of FTEs Required: 8 FTE
Qualifications: - Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited U.S. or Canadian medical school
- Foreign medical graduates must meet ECFMG or equivalent accreditation requirements
- Experience:
- Completion of an Emergency Medicine residency.
- Minimum of three (3) years of Emergency Medicine practice experience including trauma care.
- Current full active and unrestricted medical license in California (required)
- Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA or Red Cross) required.
- Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) certification (AHA or Red Cross) required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or Red Cross non web-based) required
- DEA registration (required)
- National Provider Identifier (NPI)
- Other Requirements: U.S. Citizenship required.
Responsibilities: - Provide continuous emergency medical care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department in support of 24/7/365 operations
- Evaluate diagnose stabilize and manage patients with acute illness or injury including critically ill and trauma patients
- Perform emergency procedures such as airway management intubation advanced cardiac life support and other life-saving interventions within granted privileges
- Order interpret and document diagnostic studies and laboratory results
- Coordinate care with inpatient services specialty providers and external facilities as required
- Initiate and manage patient transfers to higher levels of care when clinically indicated
- Participate in trauma activations code responses and mass casualty events
- Supervise and provide clinical directions to emergency department support staff including medics EMTs and nursing personnel
- Document all patients encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record in accordance with hospital policy and regulatory requirements
- Comply with Weed Army Community Hospital Department of Defense and Joint Commission clinical standards protocols and quality assurance requirements
- Maintain active clinical privileges and required certifications throughout the period of performance
