Job Summary
The Pharmacist is responsible for providing safe accurate and effective pharmaceutical care by dispensing medications reviewing prescriptions and counseling patients. This role ensures compliance with regulatory standards while collaborating with healthcare professionals to support optimal patient outcomes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Dispense prescription medications accurately in accordance with physician orders
Review prescriptions for correct dosage contraindications and potential drug interactions
Counsel patients on medication usage side effects storage and adherence
Provide guidance on over-the-counter medications and health products
Monitor patient medication therapy and recommend adjustments as appropriate
Ensure compliance with federal state and facility pharmacy laws and safety standards
Maintain accurate patient profiles prescription records and pharmacy documentation
Collaborate with physicians nurses and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care
Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff to ensure workflow efficiency
Manage medication inventory including ordering storage and controlled substances
Administer immunizations and perform health screenings when authorized
Process insurance claims and resolve prescription or billing-related issues
Required Qualifications
Active Pharmacist license in New York State
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited program
Previous hospital or retail pharmacy experience preferred
Strong knowledge of pharmacology medication safety and regulatory compliance
Excellent communication organizational and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently during overnight shifts
