# HOURSPER WEEK: 40 WEEKLY SCHEDULE: Monday Friday; Shifts with earliest starttime at 6:30 am and latest end time at 5:15 pm
WEEKENDWORK: Some (Required Training)
POSITIONSUMMARY: Day Care & Child Development Center Teachers are responsible forpreparingorganizing and teaching required lesson plans and daily schedules. Teachersare also responsible for engaging children and maintaining classroom order.
ESSENTIALDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
1)Beon time and in place of responsibility.
2)Keepchildrens diapers and clothes dry and clean.
3)Maintaina neat orderly classroom; change bulletin board monthly; keep pictures/illustrations/decorations on walls neat; keep track of classroom inventory.
4)Maintaina positive warm and respectful relationship between child and teacher.
5)Remainattentive and alert to the needs of the children.
6)Berelaxed and patient.
7)Planinteresting activities appropriate for the childs age and needs in keepingwith the approved curriculum. Post the curriculum inthe classroom. Prepare lesson plans - turn lesson plans into Director eachmonth. Lesson plans should match the daily schedule.
8)Input data into Teaching Strategies on all CCAP children checkpoints by dates set by Department of Education. Make weeklyanecdotal notes on all children.
9)Givethe children materials that will help them develop academicallyand socially.
10)Prepare children a few minutes ahead of time for changes inactivities.
11)Plana balance between active and quiet activities.
12)Keep parents informed through notes. Send home childrens work at least once aweek.
13)Keepa positive respectful attitude toward the center other staff parents andchildren.
14)Cleanand disinfect mats cots and toys weekly.
15)Arrivefor work on time clock in and ensure the cleanliness and comfort of thechildren. Call in advance if you cannotbe at work.
16)Makesure all children are signed in and out by parents/guardians.
17)Feedchildren in the classroom and clean up. Assist children as needed.
18)Continueto monitor for dryness and comfort of children.
19)Followdaily curriculum as posted.
20)Completedaily roster.
21)Clockout only if the children are all gone or other on duty staff is present and thebuilding is secured and utilities turned off or a supervisor is present andgives the OK.
22)Carryout other duties assigned by the Director.
OTHEROR SHARED RESPONSIBILITIES:
1)Beenthusiastic about St. Lucy Child Development Center.
2)Workcooperatively with all staff - treat each other with respect free of rudenessor public criticism. Help build morale.
3)Participateactively in staff meetings and special events.

QUALIFICATIONSTO PERFORM THE JOB SUCCESSFULLY:
Educationand/or Experience: High school or equivalent. Priorexperience as an Early Learning teacher in a Day Care Head Start or preferred.
OtherSkills Required: Abilityto prepare organize and teach lesson plans and daily schedules required. Theability to engage children and maintain classroom order is a must. Ability to pass a criminal record check and safeenvironment training required.
Certificates Licenses Registrations: CPR Pediatric First Aid CDApreferred.
PhysicalDemands/Working Conditions: Whileperforming the duties of this job the employee must be physically capable ofresponding to the childrens needs emergencies and conflicts that may occurwithin a childcare center environment in a timely manner. The employee must bephysically capable of assisting children when needed to ensure their safety inthe play area. The employee is regularly required to sit and talk or employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is regularlyrequired to use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms;and stoop knee crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or moveup to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include closevision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability toadjust focus.
