Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery improvement research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services. On 1 January 2026 Alfred Health will come together with Kooweerup Regional Health Service Peninsula Health Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health a newly merged health service with more than 22000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce providing new training education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026 all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

The Department
Alfred Health Occupational Therapy Services operates across The Alfred Caulfield and Sandringham Hospitals with clinical services aligned to Alfred Healths strategic goals and operational performance targets. Clinical service provision is focused on inpatient care as well as outpatient services across a spectrum of specialties including aged care plastic and orthopaedic neurological trauma spinal amputee and burns. The Occupational Therapy Service is committed to the provision of high-quality evidence-based care and strongly values professional development and clinical supervision.
The Role
This role is a leadership position in Alfred Health Occupational Therapy working closely with clinicians management and the broader Allied Health team. The role will include:
  • Leading quality improvement and research projects aligned with Alfred Healths Allied Health strategy
  • Driving quality improvement initiatives and supporting staff in research activities
  • Inspiring and mentoring staff fostering a culture of innovation and excellence
  • Collaborating with senior clinicians and educators to ensure evidence-based clinical practice
  • Contributing to education and professional development programs for the Occupational Therapy workforce
  • Supervision of Senior Clinicians
  • Providing consultation on your clinical area of expertise as required
Essential Experience Required
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant clinical and leadership experience
  • Postgraduate qualification (Masters or PhD in progress)
  • Proven expertise in quality improvement and research frameworks
  • Exceptional communication leadership and problem-solving skills
Desirable
  • Experience in implementation science academic writing and data analysis
  • Membership with Occupational Therapy Australia
  • Experience leading and mentoring staff in quality improvement/research
