Job Summary/Purpose

This position works with supervision but is largely self-directed. Performs a wide variety of design engineering maintenance and operations activities related to routine non-routine and emergency restoration duties. Project areas may include grid/system design operations and maintenance asset management and reliability. This position performs highly technical activities requiring extensive experience and skills.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  1. Performs a wide variety of engineering support activities in transmission-related areas such as design maintenance and operations.
  2. Uses engineering and/or technical principles best practices and knowledge of internal and external business issues to solve problems develop cost-effective technically sound solutions and improve products or services.
  3. Applies knowledge of engineering and/or technical principles in evaluating alternatives making decisions and interpreting/employing applicable electrical codes procedures standards processes and policies. Provides leadership and direction to others in the department.
  4. Supports activities to comply with applicable industry standards (i.e. NERC SERC) and other utility regulations as required.
  5. Works with other disciplines within the Transmission organization and other company business units to achieve stated goals.
  6. Assist with storm/emergency restoration efforts as necessary.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position

Technical Degree (2-year Associate or 4-year Bachelors) and/or years of operational experience in electric utilities commensurate with progression level

Minimum experience required of the position

4 years with 4-year Bachelors degree experience

Minimum knowledge skills and abilities required of the position

Technical mastery of engineering and design principles. Recognized by peers (internal and external) as a master in their field. Mastering of relevant processes and policies plus exceptional design skills and judgment. Consistently demonstrates good judgment. Mentors/leads other EAs and engineers. Good interpersonal skills along with strong written and oral communication skills. Good knowledge of Personal Computer operations and related software. Basic theory of electricity. Ability to interpret construction drawings. Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities. Ability to work well under pressure. Self-motivated and dependable team player. Good math skills. Required to work safely and follow all Entergy safety policies and procedures. Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and have the ability to mitigate the hazards. Ability to maintain and care for Company equipment properly and safeguard assets. Demonstrated acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment and customer base. Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement. Knowledgeable in MS Office software (Word Excel and Outlook).

Any certificates licenses etc. required of the position

PMP Certification preferred and financial acumen preferred
