Shift Time: 3:00 PM 11:00 PM (rotating start times)
Hours: 8 hours/day 40 hours/week

Job Summary
The Central Service / Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the decontamination inspection assembly sterilization and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment. This role supports safe surgical and clinical operations by ensuring compliance with infection control standards and regulatory guidelines.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Perform decontamination cleaning inspection assembly packaging and sterilization of surgical instruments and trays
Operate and monitor sterilization equipment according to established policies and procedures
Ensure proper handling storage and distribution of sterile supplies
Maintain accurate documentation of sterilization processes and quality checks
Follow infection control safety and regulatory standards at all times
Communicate effectively with operating room staff and clinical departments
Maintain a clean organized and safe work environment
Perform additional duties as assigned based on department needs
Qualifications by Level
Sterile Processing Aide
Ability to read write and communicate effectively in English
High School Diploma or GED required
Basic computer proficiency
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Completion of a Medical Terminology course OR successful passage of a Medical Terminology challenge exam
Must meet one of the following:
Completion of Anatomy & Physiology course (high school level or higher)
Successful passage of Anatomy exam
SPD Technician Certification
Three (3) years of recent SPD experience within the last five (5) years
Must successfully pass the SPD Technician Certification exam
Sterile Processing Technician I
Meets all Sterile Processing Aide qualifications
Minimum one (1) year experience as an SPD Aide
Active SPD Technician Certification
Sterile Processing Technician II
Meets all Sterile Processing Technician I qualifications
Minimum one (1) year experience as an SPD Technician
Surgical Instrument Processor Certification required
Sterile Processing Technician III
Required Skills & Competencies
Knowledge of sterilization techniques infection control and surgical instrumentation
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized procedures
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Flexibility to work rotating shifts weekends and holidays
