Overview
The Vermont Intelligence Center is hiring a Criminal Intelligence Analyst to play a vital role in advancing public safety and homeland security efforts across Vermont.
This position will:
- Conduct research and gather information from multiple sources.
- Provide case support to criminal investigations.
- Analyze and interpret intelligence related to crime and security concerns.
- Develop written intelligence products that inform decision-makers and partner agencies.
- Present intelligence briefings to law enforcement elected officials and other local state and federal stakeholders.
This is a dynamic role that supports collaboration across agencies and helps ensure that Vermonts communities remain safe and resilient.
Although the full salary range for this position is provided new hires are typically made at the salary range minimum.

This positionCriminal Intelligence Analyst (Job Requisition #53983) is open to all State employees and external applicants. It is a Limited Service position which is non-tenured and authorized through 06/30/2027. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

PUBLIC SAFETY BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position to include Motor Vehicle/Criminal Records Personal History Credit and any additional background check(s).
Environmental Factors
Significant pressure from deadlines is present due to a high volume of requests from the various stakeholders with the expectations that results are achieved. Additionally the employee will be exposed to material that is hateful and negative. Duties are performed largely in an office environment but the person may be required to drive to training locations. Some work outside of normal office hours may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
Associates degree or higher in criminal justice data analysis public administration or related field.
OR
Three (3) years or more of experience in law enforcement records case management public safety systems or public safety research.
Preferred Qualifications
Associates degree or higher in criminal justice data analysis public administration or related field.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office to include Word Excel and Access
Proficiency with any analytical software.
Special Requirements
Must pass a department conducted background check.
Must pass a federal secret clearance to retain employment. This may take longer than the normal six (6) month probationary period but employment in this position may be terminated for failure to have the ability to attain the secret clearance.
