About us
The Queensland Fire Department (QFD) provides fire prevention preparedness and response services to fire in the built and landscape environments as well as scientific and specialist capabilities to Queensland communities. The QFD provides a multi-hazard emergency response including road crash rescue bushfire hazardous material technical and vertical rescue severe weather incidents remote and swiftwater rescue and provides a number of functions supporting community safety outcomes.
The department encompasses Queensland Fire and Rescue (QFR) Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ) as well as the broader department which work together to pre-empt prevent mitigate and manage the consequences of fires and other emergencies on Queensland communities and support our large volunteer membership across the state.

Purpose of the role
The Asset Management team leads and programming and scheduling of allocated programs and related activities to ensure delivery of the departments statewide maintenance and minor works program. The team contributes to the strategic planning evaluation and interpretation of relevant legislation and standards to ensure QFD meets whole-of-government building and accommodation requirements and provides specialist building and construction advice to ensure best value capital and operational investment is realised and best practice asset management optimises the useful life of QFD built asset portfolio.
Reporting to the Principal Program Officer you will assist with the coordination and support in the successful delivery of various building and accommodation maintenance and minor works programs and projects are planned and coordinated so they are delivered on budget on time and in line with the commercial best practice and project management methodologies. You will work closely with key internal and external stakeholders and coordinate the delivery and reporting of the status and performance of multiple programs of work to ensure quality outcomes are achieved to meet business requirements and organisational and operational objectives.

Minimum C Class Drivers Licence (non-restricted).

The incumbent may be required to travel and work within their area of responsibility and may also be required to undertake intrastate / interstate travel.
Your key accountabilities
Your part in the ongoing success of our department in supporting frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work including but not limited to:
Provide high-quality coordination and administrative support for the delivery of projects coordinating input from technical advisors and key stakeholders including monitoring activities of external consultants to ensure target objectives of time cost and quality meet departmental requirements.
Provide timely and accurate advice to senior executives and key stakeholder groups regarding progress issues or impacts of maintenance and minor works programs to assist with effective decision-making and quality project outcomes.
Review documentation and conduct onsite inspections of current maintenance and minor works projects during design and construction to ensure compliance with the project brief and in line with best practice project and governance frameworks.
Conduct on site post-occupancy inspections and report on the effectiveness of design and/or deficiencies from a functional and operational viewpoint to compare contract performance and measure end-to-end project processes with a focus on continuous improvement for future minor works programs.
Develop and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships to promote positive accommodation and maintenance outcomes and ensure project objectives and service delivery meet departmental needs.
Undertake program management and monitor budget expenditure for allocated projects including reporting to all stakeholders through identifying risks and ensuring financial control including recommendation of resource allocation throughout the project lifecycle.
Assist in the review and evaluation of tenders and estimates including providing input relating to quality assurance and performance and/or identified risks and enhances in the tender assessment process to ensure best value and key project outcomes are achieved.
Review and prepare correspondence presentations and reports including business cases and technical specifications relevant to project initiatives in accordance with department requirements and governance.
