We are currently looking for a scientific officer and senior scientific officer to support teaching and research in the School of Environment and Sciences Nathan teaching laboratories. The positions will primarily support teaching and on occasion also assist research facilities and engagement activities. Both roles also include the upkeep of laboratory documentation and assisting with H&S compliance.
As a scientific officer you will take on complex challenges using your skills and experience to drive meaningful change. Heres how youll make it matter:
- Provide technical and operational support for teaching e.g. planning; set-up; refreshing; pre-running; using and demonstrating equipment; and dismantling of experiments for teaching laboratories.
- Perform regular calibration minor maintenance and service scheduling of all relevant instrumentation and equipment.
- Provide training and supervision of Scientific Assistants Attendants and Casual staff when they are assigned to the area that is within the remit of the Scientific Officers responsibility.
- Provide technical assistance including advice on sample preparation to Griffith University staff and students and representatives from external organisations as directed by line managers in the Environmental Sciences team.
- Support ESC outreach and community engagement events and activities as directed by the line managers.

The scientific officer will have:
- A . degree or equivalent with a major in environmental biological ecological or soil sciences and relevant practical experience or an equivalent combination of education skills and experience.

HEW 5 Salary - Base range - $79706.66 - $89416.39 17% super. Full package range is $93255.63 - $104617.18.
